WTK: Ceramic/Nano Coating?

Postby -Roach- » October 9th, 2017, 4:53 pm

Just got back my vehicle from a new paint over and wanted to know more about ceramic coating... Where sells the liquid locally?... Who has done it before and what benefits does it provide for your vehicle... Saw videos that its really easy to apply... I know some guys that will do it for you but they are charging $2500 - $3000... Ive seen the liquid online for $30 - $60US...

The coating is a silica based product that possesses highly hydrophobic properties. It cures to a certain hardness, allowing it to protect the paint from minor scratches, and will out last and outperform traditional waxes and sealants.

We're aiming to launch a nano-ceramic coating line within a month or, geared towards the DIY guys. The item is projected to cost $500ttd and come with two 30ml bottles as well as two applicators and microfibre cloths. We will also be wholesaling.
Outside of detailers, I'm not sure where you'd get it locally.

I sometimes wonder about the cost/benefit ratio of having it done, I've seen detailers locally quote over 6K to have it done

Buy the carpro coating off Amazon and diy. Not too hard to do and it lasts a long time. Plenty free info on autogeek and YouTube to learn from.

hmm, I wonder, would this work only on automotive paint or on other surfaces?

It can be used on a variety of applications. I'll attach some photos.

Ziad Mustapha has the carpro line of products including the ceramic coatings.
These coatings available to purchase online are not the professional line eg. carpro cquartz finest as you cannot get this to purchase. The professional line of coatings lasts way longer than the average coating.

Gyeon quartz in my experience/opinion is much better than those mentioned above. Local supplier prices are reasonable enough . Tech motive-Dion Maraj. Please note if applying yourself allocate an extremely clean place or controlled environment is recommended. And if your car has been recently painted and buff, talk to painter , it usually takes about 90 days for paint to release gases and for you to layer on anything. Also before you add any coating inspect paint as any coating is going to show up any imperfections (swirls, love marks, heavy rubbing when filler work was done etc). Vehicle must also be prepped a certain way for it to "adhere" to the surface. My .02 as a detailer . Could pm me if any advice needed. (Not pushing anything just try a help)

Yup, the professional line is very expensive and proper prep work has to be done to ensure you get the desired finish...

just like any job you are doing, prep work is the most critical...

Some detailers locally are going over board quoting over 10k to do a coating.....

Best thing i think is to have your vehicles clear coat resprayed using PPG ceramiclear
It would cost less than a coating and will last a hell of a lot longer.

Highly recommend ceramic coating, however as someone said prep work needs to be done

Prep work is indeed essential to both correct defects in the paint before application and to ensure adequate adherence and bonding. Cleaning with isopropyl alcohol before application is highly recommended. It also needs time to cure, at least 12 hours.

Good day all process is not hard just time consuming and with the right tools. Make YouTube your friend.
Pain prep is the key to make your coating work.

1: wash your vehicle properly (foam)
2:remove tar
3: wash
4: clay
5: compound if necessary
6: for car pro use the carpro essence
7: apply coating as applied as instruction
8: cure time is required ( curing lamps could be used)
9: maintain your coating
10: essence plus applied for car nano coating

how good do these coatings work for making it easier to wash vehicle ?
I drive a lot and get dirty fast, dont really care for car show quality paint job
my paint job aint the best either.
but if these coatings reduce crud sticking it would be a plus.

Carpro online prices not bad .

Dust and normal road grime wash off much easier on a coated car vs non coated. Also, I drove through some serious rain last week and then came down the highway at about 100km/h and to my surprise when I got home, the car was completely clean and dry, barely any water spots were noticable on the paint. Similar thing happens when I rinse the car off after washing and leave it in the garage to dry off.
