W.T.K. y11 radiator change

Postby ray019 » April 8th, 2013, 9:52 pm

so saturday night i was driving when i noticed the car started to loose power then the engine light came on, when i looked at the temp. gauge it was on H. upon checking the radiator had a huge crack. so today i bought a new radiator replaced the thermostat n used coolant instead of water in the radiator, but the car is still over heating any suggestion why this is occurring?

Sounds about right. Try changing the head gasket. If it doesn't work you could either shave the head and block or replace with another

there's no oil mixing in the coolant in the radiator could it still be that the gasket is damaged or something else?

Oil and water don't have to mix to indicate head gasket damage. That is a misconception.
When the car is cold but idling, open the rad and see if water is being pushed out. This is another way to detect a damaged head gasket.
