Great Race 2020 - September 26th

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » September 13th, 2020, 3:10 pm

The Government has approved the 2020 Great Race. The race will be held on Saturday, the 26th September 2020. The Trinidad and Tobago Powerboat Association wishes to thank the Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, the Honourable Minister of National Security Stuart Young and the Honourable Minister of Health Dr. Terrence Deyalsingh for giving us the go ahead.

While THE GREAT RACE 2020 has been approved , the TTPBA Executive Committee as well all the racers, have to ensure that they do not break the trust of the Honorable Prime Minister, the Minister of National Security, the Minister of Health as well as any breaches to the regulations as regards to Covid -19 while running the race.

Guidelines for the 2020 Great Race are as follows:

1. No rafting up of support boats will be allowed in Tobago.
No swimming will be allowed in Tobago, as beaches remain closed at this time.

2. The TTPS and the TTCG will assist the TTPBA with the running of the Great Race 2020 by patrolling the areas where there are usually crowds gathered to watch the race to ensure that there are no crowds of people or raft up of boats.

3. The Great Race 2020 will be live streamed and can be viewed from your homes locally, in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as internationally.

4. Spectators will not be allowed to gather anywhere

5. Official Support boats are to have a crew of 5 or less people.

TTPBA would like all fans to stay safe and follow all of the current restrictions so that we can have a safe successful race.

5. Official Support boats are to have a crew of 5 or less people.

It's a good thing helping other teams (passing tools, etc) doesnt happen.

A bit disappointed with the broadcast barely showing the actual boating action.

Mobil Outlaw was the first boat to reach Tobago in the 2020 Great Race. Owner and throttle man Jason Ross and driver Michael Ross made it across in their Mobil sponsored 29 foot extreme v-bottom hull closed canopy boat in just under 1 hour and 20 mins.

We are yet to see those guys at full throttle . Always some issues , breakdown , choppy waters etc.......we need to start using the dams for this yes.....

Nah, somewhere with calm waters so boats cyah breakdown and ting nah. Every year at least one of the big board does have some kinda failure due to waters ......give them a flat surface and let's see how they perform .

On another note Ken needs to take back he boat and race it himself I feel. Since the handover, they lose, breakdown and have all sorts of issues each year at race time . That, or jharay the boat

I've experienced 131 mph on smooth water....it feels deceptively slow because there's no point if reference. The seats do a lot to smooth the bumps as well. a 70 mph turn tho...woah
130 in mild chop must feel insane
