Above Ground Pool Frame Replacement

Postby Premchand1976 » May 19th, 2020, 5:06 pm

Anyone here does or knows anyone that can supply / repair the hollow piping used atop the Intex pool frames ? Mines have started rusting / rotting now and might not be able to hold up the water weight much longer ........replacement piping of the same type or even new pipe bent to suit .....thanks

Intex sells replacement parts on their website. You can ship it in from Miami.

Other than that, depending on the model, i'm sure it can be fabricated locally to required specs, but the two factors are cost and safety to hold that mass of water. I think 5 years for a plastic pool is good service and would buy a new one.

As maj.tom said, on their website you can order the parts
https://www.intexcorp.com/replacement-p ... und-pools/

I think NWT are the local dealers for Intex

Check out there XTR pool lines.

They claim it’s power coated on the inside of the frame so less corrosion.

seems that the edge rubbing removes the paint and causes rusting

sorry, got that same vertical type on my pool now.
There's a round hollow vertical one also, thought it was that one you wanted. i've got a full set from my previous pool.

I'm glad we're having this above ground convo.
I have a 15x48" pool and even with the smaller 12x something I realized that the normal B type pumps are woefully inadequate at recirculating and keeping the water clean.
I bought a 2500 GPH intex pump from Bhagwansingh using the B type filter../..... I have the same water in the pool for months, regular chlorine maintenance and washing the filter daily and changing when needed. water is always crystal clear.
I had the pump for about 5 years and only changed bearings last couple weeks due to noise. Those bigger pumps are the best bet for above ground pools.

Agreed. Topic turned out to be quite educational re pumps etc. I have to put the pump on each day and wash and reuse filter ( A or C ), every day or two....will definitely invest in a bigger one, possibly the same filter type as well as something to skim the pool floor for minute sand / stone particles.

What are you guys using to add chlorine to your pools ?
I have an intex 18ft x48" and I use trichlor 3" tablets in a floating dispenser but I find my CYA levels get high pretty quickly.

Update -

I checked the 1.5 inch schedule 40 pipe bit it was a bit too thick so I used 1.5 galvanised pipe and purlin screws . Was a bit smaller to fit but I think it's good

If I get 1-2 years life out of this material , I'm happy with that. Ultimate plan is the 10 x 20 x 48" rectangular ones.....hopefully for Xmas 2020

A fellow tuner gave me some lengths of the original pipes but for the regular frame one ....not the prism frame ....if anyone wants them......I will gladly give them away.....as he did.

See pics below.

good work, you will get good life out of that esp as the screws holding the pipe above so less rubbing and water settling to cause rust.
dont forget to get some corrosionX and spray where you see rust like on the vertical piece
make sure its not wet first.

Shift in topic :

I noticed when I filled the pool, the water was really really clean and refreshing the first couple days. I haven't put any chlorine or pH balance etc in as yet ( 1 week since filling )

Any downside to this ? When should I put the treatments in ?

Should I empty the pool a bit each week or so and fill.it back.up ? I've never seen the water this clean and refreshing back when I used to put chlorine every week on average and use the pump/ filter daily ?

Did you use a tester to check the water?

Water is water, dirty, green or otherwise. Filtration and chemicals to balance pH and Chlorine levels etc will bring water back to the crystal clear and clean state you want it in. Depending on the filtration system you have you can vacuum to waste, flush or rinse the filtration system. But there is no need to dump water unless you have a serious problem.

Gopauls Toy Store in Marabella has good prices too - never compared the prices with Fair & Square though
