hikvision have a million different products and many grey market undocumented ones

you have to be real careful because some of the cameras for example may be good quality
but sometimes lack certain features like image rotation etc
so if you buy the wrong camera for a particular mounting scenario you could be off

from my research Dahua appears to be more straightforward and better quality but little higher price.

Ended up buying a 8 channel system by CCTV Experts. The price and value was good as compared to some other places I checked.Anybody know how to setup a constant live stream to a remote location?Using the Hik-Connect app atm but it timing out every 5 minutes.

Perhaps the people you bought it from should be able to assist with that

Nah dont ask them to come into your house to install anything. The owner there is one of the fellas get charged after a break in by my store for possessing and receiving stolen items.

Plenty of the ISP's blocking the streaming. Call your ISP and tell them you trying to play online games and it not connecting and if it have any firewall they could disable. Dont tell them it's for CCTV purposes.

Old thread yes but I’m also looking for recommendations on a good home system.

Are the Swann systems from pricemart any good? I’m seeing the HIK Vision brand or something so highly advertised but I’m exploring options cost wise

I have an Amcrest 8 channel system with 1TB -all the bells and whistles. Phone access,IR,motion sensors, email notifications, etc etc

Bought in 2016 from Amazon, and i have had no issues at all - I only needed 4 cameras-of course I figured that out AFTER it arrived.
But that means I have some redundancy.
Dummy proof cuz the instal and set up went without any hitches -I did it.

I suggest you check it out- excellent value for money-and great customer support(I had to reset password)

There are alot of installers who are just that "installers", not professionals. Phones surgeon is wrong, I do now know of any ISP that block streams, especially upload streams, port numbers are locked until you open them but most DVR services use your basic ports.

PM me and i ll try to get you sorted out, I ve never received complaints of timeouts, their is something you may not have done. There are other options available to see your live view offsite as well.

*edit*

Hi Guys,

Do I need to use a Hikvision NVR for their cameras or can I use IVMS on a computer to do the setup and recording?

Looking at about 8-10 cameras

Thanks

Reolink IP system checking in. Didn't go with the hikvision because of the many flaws in the system.
No complaints thus far

Reolinks are excellent cameras.

I hope it means all cameras are exempt. Would be excellent timing for me.

So I'm looking for an option to record cctv footage for an off site location. No internet access at this location but power. Don't mind storing to a hard drive and manually pulling footage when necessary. I've been seeing these bulb type cameras which accepts SD cards.
What options do I have??
