If two filters are connected in serial, and they have the same micron rating, they will make no difference.

If you use a lower micron rating than what comes stock, to improve filtering, you will increase the differential pressure across the filter and thus less fuel pressure (potential damage to fuel pump through cavitation).

If you are concerned about sediments, I would just suggest changing your filter (OEM micron rating) more often.

Wrt water, I use the Redline diesel treatment once in a while, but I have no way of knowing if it works. I typically use the Amsoil, but that doesn't claim to remove water and I can't see the chemical composition of it anyway.

What about using this to filter the diesel before it goes into the tank?

Qoute fro Mr Ian Bose -Another very satisfied Liqui Moly user

" I received and used the diesel purge on my Yanmar engine last week.
The problem I was having is that after running the engine for an extended period the RPM would start dropping off in 15 second intervals from 3000rpm to 2000rpm where it would stay there for 3 seconds and then return to 3000rpm.
After using the diesel purge and on first use on Wednesday last, the problem seems to have been resolved. I will be testing again this Wednesday to confirm this. My mechanic had advised that I would need to remove and service the injector pump in order to solve this problem.

Update...I tested the engine again yeaterday (went fishing) and once again it worked perfectly proving that the liqui moly diesel purge worked.
Thanks for a great product.!"
