First carnival weekend period in so long that its actually pleasant and easy to drive around the savannah, through St James and woodbrook area. So many many residents are absolutely happy and overcome with joy that this year they are not plagued by Noise pollution and they dont have to put up with the smell of urine all over their walls after the confusion.
I wish carnival was like this from now on....

I think this year proves that if we want to relocate carnival out of the city once and for all it is possible.
Carry it to a remote location where it does not disrupt the main city of our country ... people can just drive or take mass transportation on a SAFE ph govt assigned car and go have their fun............

i wouldnt say end it totally, it is a huge part of our culture, its just the symbolism in it has been lost and its now used an an excuse every year for the wrong reasons.

Lol!

Modern hi-powered pokemon soca pushed ole time kaiso men into dusty, poorly patronized tents.

Then pre-made Chinese beads and bikini mas made mas camps all but disappear.

Come again with that culture talk.

San Fernando mayor goes to work in Carnival costume

Image
Despite his Carnival costume, San Fernando mayor Junia Regrello made it clear on Monday that he is not opposing the government decision to cancel Carnival 2021. Regrello explained it was a regular work day for him, but he wore an Indian costume to show his support for the spirit of Carnival. Photos by Marvin Hamilton

STAFF and visitors to the San Fernando City Corporation (SFCC) were amazed and amused to see mayor Junia Regrello reporting for work in full Carnival costume on what should have been Carnival Monday.

He told the Newsday he ordered the red, white and black Indian-style costume from veteran masman Lionel Jagessar, well known for his production of Indian mas over the years, because he wanted to keep the Carnival spirit alive.

Regrello said his family were also caught by surprise when he brought the costume home on Sunday night and then left home in full Carnival kit on what should have been J’Ouvert morning.

he serious about anything coming to work on a monday dressed like that , imo bad example by d mayor

so he eh have to meet nobody or go anywhere important today but ise d mayor so i cud dress how i feel & nobody cyar tell me nutten , suppose his staff wanted to do d same , would he deny them

a better way to show spirit of Carnival was to get same headgear made tiny enough to pin on his shirt & also get some for his staff to wear today & tomorrow if they want it .... seems like he enjoyed being a spectacle even if its for 1day

:agrue:
