Engine Rotational Output

Postby rebound » October 19th, 2020, 7:21 pm

I need some advice for a project I am working on and I know there are some serious gearheads here.

Picture this scenario; you have an engine rear wheel drive transmission and a differential rotating in a certain direction to go 5 forward and 1 reverse (normal configuration).

If I wanted to put the engine in the back of the vehicle facing the rear and the differential in the front of the vehicle, is there any way I can properly reverse the rotation of that setup to keep 5 forward and 1 reverse?

I'm thinking about something I saw on roadkill... Namely the stubby Bob project.
They used something like a boat transfer case or something like that

It reversed the rotation before the diff?

For this project the drive goes to sproket and chain, so I was thinking to configure a couple gears to reverse the final drive.

This is the project. The 6 wheels are chain driven, already converted to Hyabusa chains.. I want to replace the v twin engine an skid steer transmission with a jimney 3 cylinder engine and drivetrain.

The thing is that I want the engine in the back.

Looking at it again... They used a V drive.
Which might not be what you are looking for

Join the two chains each together on the sides so that direction of rotation doesn’t change

Front to Rear engine conversions acheive this by flipping the differential upside down.
