Covid Testing in Trinidad

Postby kerwinishere » September 5th, 2020, 7:26 pm

Where does it and at what cost? I see St. Claire and St. Augustine does it for $1100-$1650. Hearing now that Nirvana Weight Loss Clinic does it for $300 so I am very apprehensive. Google searches hasn't resulted in any viable options.

Is it difficult to get this test done in the hospital or something?

Think that you are becoming infected? Nasal swab

Think that you were infected but recovered? Blood test

i don't think the blood test is for recovered persons- but it u have been infected for days and are building up an immune response, i cud be wrong. but if it was for recovered ppl wouldn't they state that?

this is it.

nasal swab = PCR = expensive & limited capacity, but highly accurate. the 'gold standard'
blood test = antibody = less expensive, tons of capacity, but less accurate.

antibodies last some time after infection. so the blood test can identify currently infected or recently recovered persons.
the PCR test/nasal swab can only identify currently infected persons.

What can be the legal implications of faking symptoms to get time off for quarantine?

Gov't simply can't afford to test any and every case so most testing would have some requirements such as history of exposure or symptoms.

You all need to understand how to test in order to accurately interpret your results. Tests that cost over 1000 are too expensive and just seem to be a money grab. They should offer two testing dates to confirm a negative status for that price.

You want to take 2 tests to figure out your status. Take a test about 7 days post exposure and if negative then take a test anytime past day 15 to confirm negative status.

Bare in mind that at any moment of time you can be exposed to a new exposure situation that cpuld reset your timeline.

Sorry...private testing costs are just too high. IMO, the testing should be ramped up publicly.

This also brings to mind the issue of private vaccinations and the cost.

Just to update the thread, for PCR testing:
Victoria Labs San Fernando
https://vspgroup.wixsite.com/victorialaboratories
3204289
Cost: $1100 cash only
Book online or through the WhatsApp number

St. Clair Medical, POS
18686281451 ext 235, 218
Cost: $1650

St. Augustine Medical
https://www.facebook.com/621363121217352/posts/4097173390302957/
680-9240
Not sure of present cost, their website info differs from what's on Facebook
http://www.saphtt.com/~saphtt/web/?page_id=1710

Most labs who are doing the PCR test operate Monday to Friday and not for long on Saturday.
Most offer a drive thru service.
Better to call their regular number before for information as different places ask for different information and what to walk with on the day of the test.
