Extortion in T&T is when price too high and when you ask for your money back since the pitch oil tasting food is not to your liking and they show you the refund manager who is the bouncer with no CXC passes and he looking like King Kong and he barefoot.

And he looking at your sweet coke shaped Vene bebesita who trying to run but she keeps slipping on the pitch oil while listening to Despacito ft. Daddy Yankee .

Mic drop

All the stores in duty-free have been closed for over a year now, many are not returning, lots of stock particularly chocolate had to be given away, one store is selling retail at their parent company office and is trying to offload their stock of chocolate sometimes at reduced prices or buy 1 get 1 or 2 free

After a year and assuming no new stock came in those chocolates must be past expiry by now!

Those customs issues are freaking up alot of businesses. When usually you could order something on monday and have it for your customer by friday....now its 3 to 4 weeks or more waiting time.

So instantly you lose that customer.

It still like this?

Imo it has improved a little but still very bad. Bout 2 - 3 weeks now as opposed to 1 month+. Don't know if / when we'll return to 1 week or less times but yeah it's difficult for anyone / small business importing goods in a timely manner.

‘Smartmanism' in Grocery ?

Postby RedVEVO » May 5th, 2021, 4:52 am

"Police yesterday stopped the sale of cooked food at a location inside the Food Giant Supermarket in Barataria.
The food was being sold in the grocery, which is allowed to remain open as an essential service "

" police did not publicly state the reasons for the shutdown .. "

"Sagramsingh-Sooklal reiterated that those found in contravention of the regulations set out for retail stores face a hefty fine of $250,000 or six months imprisonment. "

No I visit that grocery. There is a cafe there with food and drinks selling similar to a restaurant. The gas station sells prepackaged sandwiches pies etc where its. a grab and go.

no time wasting with telling workers which piece of chicken you want

THEY need to get an education - Let's understand the "overdotishness"

WE all know that THEY only have 2 CXC and cannot read & write.

And forget about SPELL . To THEY that's obeah .

So they walk in the Grocery and NOW telling business people what to sell and not to sell ?

And THEY apparently came to buy cooked food and maybe THEY get vex and close down biz .

And thanks God nobody fall off a chair ..

AGAIN

half ass reporting , i bet they didnt even go to said place & check out d scene for themselves , just sensationalize a heading for news to sell

if food was prepackaged & resting on a shelf just to pick up n go then no problem , but if u dealing with employees custom ordering\making\assembling stuff then that is different... this is exactly like d doubles in a gas station last yr

What is the difference between buying cooked food and buying regular grocery ?

It's NOT the cooked food per se that is giving peeps the virus .

So to go into a grocery and closed down a section that selling cooked food is when you have no comprehension about life .

ALL Malls have the protocol intact BUT they are closed .

But the Grocery still open .

No buffet style: Supermarkets to sell pre-packed, cooked food only
DARLISA GHOURALAL CREATED : 6 MAY 2021

The sale of pre-packaged cooked food at supermarkets is allowed – as long as the public health guidelines are adhered to.

The assurance comes from President of the Supermarket Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) Rajiv Diptee, following correspondence from Police Commissioner Gary Griffith clarifying the sale of cooked food at supermarkets.

Confusion set in after police earlier this week shut down the sale of food at a Barataria grocery, causing members of the public to question whether the sale of meals at these establishments was prohibited as restaurants remain closed.

But, Diptee said the Commissioner has advised that the preparation and sale of food is limited to pre-packaged food put out for sale only.

The SATT President explained: “The customisation of meals across a service counter where customers can enjoy a selection of food is prohibited as the regulations identify such food outlets as restaurant facilities.”

“The preparation and sale of food will continue at stores once they continue to follow the regulations to ensure compliance,” he added.

Principal Medical Officer Maryam Abdool-Richards at yesterday’s virtual media briefing hosted by the Ministry of Health also confirmed that the sale of these goods through groceries/supermarkets, bakeries and vegetable stalls aren’t prohibited under the current regulations.

It’s well documented, however, that police can shut down such operations for the day in the instance of gatherings in breach of the regulations at these establishments.

Massy Stores is one of the many groceries that offers ready to go meals, and has assured that the sale of their pre-packaged food will continue.

Assistant Vice President Marketing Candace Ali told Loop News that there’s been a higher demand for their meals.

Ali assured that there’s no crowding taking place and the supermarket follows food safety rules with all of the packaged meals put out on warmers.

“They’re hot and ready to go. Our pre-packaged lunches, fried chicken and rotisserie chicken are among our top sellers at the moment. In some instances, the food is sold out before lunch time as many people aren’t able to always pack a meal with them when they go out to work.”

“So, these meals will continue to be sold at our supermarkets, in compliance with the public health guidelines. It’s not a self-serve system like a buffet style, but pre-packaged lunches set out on warmers for customers to choose from.”

She added there have been no issues with police cautioning the supermarkets about crowding and customers remain compliant with the established guidelines which are reinforced by staff when people enter the stores.

“Handwashing, directional signs, reminders from staff, everything is in place to ensure that operations continue safely,” Ali said. https://www.looptt.com/content/no-buffe ... -food-only?

Yes my brother - Callaloo and Fried Pollo is good.

My Vene family however prefer to make their own EVERY Sunday .

"Callolo" was actually first made in Venezuela .

Trinidad had Spanish influence since 1895 and Arawak and Carib used to make it with the Vene Indians.

So Venes are really original Trinidadians.

Callaloo is a Vene dish .

Google it :D

Just like how Saijan get renamed Moringa and became south American ,despite originating in India? Try again sellout.Calaloo is African.Spanish didn't know about dasheen bush until they reach Africa. But white is right I supposeHold that in the meantime , Wikipedia"Since the leaf vegetable used in some regions may be locally called "callaloo" or "callaloo bush" "dasheen Leaves", some confusion can arise among the vegetables and with the dish itself. This, as is the case with many other Caribbean dishes, is a remnant of West African cuisine.[1

No no no ..

The Spanish people were here in Trinidad FIRST .

Almost 99.9 % of "traditional creole" Trini dishes originated from Spanish influence .

Example : " Pelau " is really a version of Spanish Fried Arroz etc.

Africans came from the lineage from Grenada , St. Vincent , Barbados etc. and they brought yam and dasheen and pumpkin .

They took the Vene food with spinach - added water with pumpkin so they were able to feed their 10 children .

And called the dish Callaloo :D
