Suddenly cases are starting to go up, right after we had mass protests and riots in Port of Spain and environs.
Whooooda thunk it?
The government can't lock down anymore, people have to work else we all dead
At this point we just have to take our chances and keep working
At this point we probably eliminate seasonal flu.

sooner or later chances are someone who is high risk will end up in ICU and we'll have another death or two.

in terms of any protests or behavior that affects local spread, look at the community tests for that- that is what u have to worry about as anyone testing positive here is not imported or in quarantine and could have already spread it. so far we lucky to have no positives there.

Yeah them bars useless only promoting drinking rum and driving then killing innocent people on the road.

I hope Carnival get cancel I don't see how any sensible government could allow that to continue that in itself is a breach of Covid regulation.

Once they cancel this Devil Culture I could rest well and not get woken up by these retards on my side and their dotish music truck.

I does look at Covid on the bright side, peace and quiet now that them music truck out of business.

I still can't wrap my head around how these Music Trucks does get authorization from TTPS to parade a truck and break the law by disturbing the peace. How come the EMA doesn't say anything about this? why Gary does still allow this nonsense? Imagine people who swear to uphold the law does grant license to break the law

Anyways thanks to Covid none ah this assness does take place again, my mother happy since she does suffer from migraine headache and them music truck does terrorize the old lady all hour of the night and set off everybody car alarm with all the bass. Thank god Covid actually did something positive

Where do you even live for all that action?
Apart from elections the only time music trucks pass in my area is the period between Xmas and New Years accompanying the xmas treats done by one of the 4 organizations that do such things.

Not even for Carnival do music trucks pass

by next week, we hadda see hundreds of local cases, with at least a few leading to critical, and maybe a couple deaths down the line.

if not, we either have phantom virus or phantom testing. and neither situation justifies us keeping restrictions going.

Covid affecting all organs- including your brain

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-brains/scientists-warn-of-potential-wave-of-covid-linked-brain-damage-idUSKBN24837S

Scientists warn of potential wave of COVID-linked brain damage
Kate Kelland
3 MIN READ

LONDON (Reuters) - Scientists warned on Wednesday of a potential wave of coronavirus-related brain damage as new evidence suggested COVID-19 can lead to severe neurological complications, including inflammation, psychosis and delirium.

A study by researchers at University College London (UCL)described 43 cases of patients with COVID-19 who suffered either temporary brain dysfunction, strokes, nerve damage or other serious brain effects.

The research adds to recent studies which also found the disease can damage the brain.

“Whether we will see an epidemic on a large scale of brain damage linked to the pandemic – perhaps similar to the encephalitis lethargica outbreak in the 1920s and 1930s after the 1918 influenza pandemic – remains to be seen,” said Michael Zandi, from UCL’s Institute of Neurology, who co-led the study.

COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, is largely a respiratory illness that affects the lungs, but neuroscientists and specialist brain doctors say emerging evidence of its impact on the brain is concerning.

My worry is that we have millions of people with COVID-19 now. And if in a year’s time we have 10 million recovered people, and those people have cognitive deficits ... then that’s going to affect their ability to work and their ability to go about activities of daily living,” Adrian Owen, a neuroscientist at Western University in Canada, told Reuters in an interview.

In the UCL study, published in the journal Brain, nine patients who had brain inflammation were diagnosed with a rare condition called acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) which is more usually seen in children and can be triggered by viral infections.

The team said it would normally see about one adult patient with ADEM per month at their specialist London clinic, but this had risen to at least one a week during the study period, something they described as “a concerning increase”.

“Given that the disease has only been around for a matter of months, we might not yet know what long-term damage COVID-19 can cause,” said Ross Paterson, who co-led the study. “Doctors need to be aware of possible neurological effects, as early diagnosis can improve patient outcomes.”

Owen said the emerging evidence underlined the need for large, detailed studies and global data collection to assess how common such neurological and psychiatric complications were.

He is running a international research project at covidbrainstudy.com where patients can sign up to complete a series of cognitive tests to see whether their brain functions have altered since getting COVID-19.

“This disease is affecting an enormous number of people,” Owen said. “That’s why it’s so important to collect this information now.”

If this is really true and it can be established beyond a reasonable doubt that Covid causes brain damage, and I not talking about people who get brain damage from a stroke that they got from Covid, understand the difference they have been talking about brain damage for a while but that is a result of a STROKE and other illnesses caused by Covid.

If however we can now establish that healthy individuals, young people without preexisting conditions who didn't suffer a stroke etc actually recovered from Covid and then developed mental disorders and it is on a significant level in the coming years.

Then every border in this planet must be shut down, every school every bar for the next 100 years or until a vaccine comes around if ever. If such a thing is actually true about Covid, drastic changes the likes of which we can't imagine will have to take place.

so unless you want a fully draconian system like in china

we are in for a long haul until a vaccine or cure is developed

from all the studies about the effects of this covid thing, it seems that this SARS-CoV-2 affects small blood vessels, in various systems, through out the body. it mostly affects the lower respiratory tract cause it mostly reaches there first. it affects other places, but the common trait is it attacking the small blood vessels.
the second way at affects the body is by causing the body to over respond. so u get a severe auto immune response.

so brain damage plus the mounting evidence for airborne transmission (lingering in the air)

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-53329946

Coronavirus: WHO rethinking how Covid-19 spreads in air
8 July 2020

The World Health Organization has acknowledged there is emerging evidence that the coronavirus can be spread by tiny particles suspended in the air.

The airborne transmission could not be ruled out in crowded, closed or poorly ventilated settings, an official said.

If the evidence is confirmed, it may affect guidelines for indoor spaces.

An open letter from more than 200 scientists had accused the WHO of underestimating the possibility of airborne transmission.

The WHO has so far said that the virus is transmitted through droplets when people cough or sneeze.

"We wanted them to acknowledge the evidence," Jose Jimenez, a chemist at the University of Colorado who signed the paper, told the Reuters news agency.

"This is definitely not an attack on the WHO. It's a scientific debate, but we felt we needed to go public because they were refusing to hear the evidence after many conversations with them," he said.

Media captionNyka Alexander from the WHO explains what an airborne virus is.
Another signatory - Professor Benjamin Cowling of Hong Kong University - told the BBC the finding had "important implications".

"In healthcare settings, if aerosol transmission poses a risk then we understand healthcare workers should really be wearing the best possible preventive equipment... and actually the World Health Organization said that one of the reasons they were not keen to talk about aerosol transmission of Covid-19 is because there's not a sufficient number of these kind of specialised masks for many parts of the world," he said.

"And in the community, if we're thinking about aerosol transmission being a particular risk, then we need to think about how to prevent larger super spreading events, larger outbreaks and those occur in indoor environments with poor ventilation, with crowding and with prolonged close contact."

Image

WHO officials have cautioned the evidence is preliminary and requires further assessment.

Benedetta Allegranzi, the WHO's technical lead for infection prevention and control, said that evidence emerging of airborne transmission of the coronavirus in "crowded, closed, poorly ventilated settings that have been described, cannot be ruled out".

A shifting position?
Imogen Foulkes, BBC News in Geneva

For months, the WHO has insisted that Covid-19 is transmitted via droplets emitted when people cough or sneeze. Droplets that do not linger in the air, but fall onto surfaces - that's why handwashing has been identified as a key prevention measure.

But 239 scientists from 32 countries don't agree: they say there is also strong evidence to suggest the virus can also spread in the air: through much tinier particles that float around for hours after people talk, or breathe out.

Today the WHO admitted there was evidence to suggest this was possible in specific settings, such as enclosed and crowded spaces.

That evidence will have to be thoroughly evaluated, but if it is confirmed, the advice on how to prevent the virus spreading may have to change, and could lead to more widespread use of masks, and more rigorous distancing, especially in bars, restaurants, and on public transport.
