Re: Coronavirus - COVID-19 -6261 cases, 113 deaths, 589active, 5559 recovered in T&T

Earlier this week, Dr Soumya Swaminathan, chief scientist of the World Health Organisation, through which T&T expects to access the Moderna vaccine, gave an indication of the time-frame when he said, “We are looking at at least the first half of next year as being a period of very, very limited doses. Supplies are going to be limited. There are bilateral deals that companies have done. So many of the doses have already been booked by some countries.”

Barring some unforeseen delay, therefore, the vaccine may not be generally available to the T&T population for another six to eight months or more, which for us could be toughest part of the pandemic.

Measures Announced by Prime Minister Rowley at today's media conference:

- Hunting will be allowed until the regular end of the season. The season will NOT be extended. Registration will begin from Monday

- Food will be allowed in casinos

- Bars will continue to have take-away services only. However, the Finance Ministry has been asked to find $10m to treat with employees of bars and restaurants who lost jobs or have reduced salaries

- Owners of bars and restaurants have been urged to utilize existing small business support

- Public sector will be instructed to have no Christmas parties in 2020. Private businesses have been urged to follow suit.

Do not congregate for Christmas on order to allow school to open in January.
He said that it is good for Tobago's economy. He is calling for those going across to continue adhereing to the current health regulations and protocols to prevent any spread in Tobago.

THA elections going to be a joke. The PNM THA and the PNM government is the only employer on the island. Nobody in their right mind going to vote Watson Duke and risk getting cut off.

What going on right now is madness - people liming in food court without masks, people walking around the mall with mask on chin, crowds at regular pre-covid levels, and the mall decorated up with large props and stages - forcing crowds into more limited spaces. I was legit disturbed by how people seem to have completely forgotten there is a pandemic going on.

This will not end well. What is happening in the USA is going to happen here. And we, with our shithole resources, will not handle it nearly as well.

Keith, end this now. Roll it back before it is too late.

Hello paid_influencer,

Yes, i observed this myself.

Absolutely disgusting.

Keith has to lock down and lock down now.

Oh the economy will suffer?

Trinis,

Wear allyuh blasted masks and get with the times.

And tobago people are a bitter bunch. Look at how they treating kelson charles. So given that the THA is the biggest employer there i doubt watson and co going to win cause people scared about their financial stability. Is only when someone come through that pushing confidence from all involved that a change coming will PNM lose again in tobago

Well to some extent yes and no, I'm still seeing both, most folks seem to adhere to the mask policy however the social distancing that is another story, most stores are offering the hand sanitizer option however they are not monitoring the entrances and limiting the number of folks going in and out resulting in crowding in the stores.

So it seems to be a mixed bag with these guidelines.

Over 150 people, including minors, were detained this morning in Caroni at an illegal party.

The party, the Express was told, was a ‘zesser’ event, and among the 150 detained were people known to affiliate with gangs in the community.

At about 4a.m. today, a team of officers from the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) under the supervision of Sgt Mark Hernandez, received intelligence that led them to a warehouse off River Branch Trace, off the Caroni South Bank Road.

When officers arrived, the event was in full swing.

Over 200 persons were observed at the event, most not wearing masks nor practicing social distancing.

The police announced themselves, and several people attempted to jump the 10 foot walls which surround the warehouse in a bid to escapee through the nearby river.

Several people that attempted this suffered severe injury, landing on their face and backs.

They were detained.

Others were luckier and managed to escape the officers.

However, several of the ‘escapees’ were eventually detained and questioned, as their clothes had been muddied by the river banks, and they still wore bands on their right hands.

The people at the event were all made to line up and they were profiled by the responding officers – their photographs and information taken.

This is because the event, the Express was told, was attended by people from all over the country, many of whom had gang links as well.

When Express visited the scene, police were still profiling suspects.

Many individuals were scantily clad and still bore the wrist bands on their hands indicating they were part of the event.

Searches were being done at the immediate area for illegal items as police were told that persons at the party had drugs and even firearms on their person.

Also aiding with the operation were officers from the Inter Agency Task Force, the Multi Operational Police Squad (MOPS) and officers from the Central Division under the command of Assistant Commissioner of Police Balram and Snr Supt Simon.

Under current regulations of the Public Health Ordinance, groups are prevented from gathering in numbers in excess of ten persons.

Failure to do so can see persons face fines of up to $50,000.

Honest question, how are weddings being allowed right now? Like many others I've seen 2 big Hindu weddings this last month or so, all under the guise of 'religious' ceremonies.

Covid clearly is only contaigous when a fee is paid. When it's a free event or by invitation Covid becomes benign.

Damn right. So all 150 zessers will be set free by the courts.

The wedding had more than 10 people so doh come and tell me about no damn Covid laws for zessers but the same does not apply to the hoi-polloi.

I wonder if GG was invited to the wedding.
