Re face masks with valves, not all are the same.I have used local masks, n95 masks and masks with a valve. My mask with valve is four layer mask. It has built in pocket for a filter. Nothing is expelled through the valve.

lockdown not coming. We in a phase where the people that own the means of production are feeling it. They want to keep their lifestyles afloat, and in order to do that, the worker bees need to keep working. So we have this propaganda about "Be Safe," and the drive to convince the population that if they wear masks, sanitize, etc, they can be immune.

Never mind the deaths or the case count. Be Safe and keep working, citizen.

Masks with Exhalation Valves or Vents

The purpose of masks is to keep respiratory droplets from reaching others to aid with source control. However, masks with one-way valves or vents allow air to be exhaled through a hole in the material, which can result in expelled respiratory droplets that can reach others. This type of mask does not prevent the person wearing the mask from transmitting COVID-19 to others. Therefore, CDC does NOT recommend using masks for source control if they have an exhalation valve or vent.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover-guidance.html#masks-with-vents

3M statement on valved masks.

While a valve does not change a respirator’s ability to help reduce a wearer’s exposure to bioaerosols, it is not recommended that a person who is exhibiting symptoms of illness wear a valved respirator, because there is a possibility that exhaled particles may leave the respirator via the valve opening and enter the surrounding environment, potentially spreading the disease.

redmanjp wrote:I think the regular PCR test is much more expensive but more accurate.

But the antigen test are very cheap so they should expand testing with these tests. Test all asymptomatic persons who are contacts of positive cases.
Also test anyone requiring a test for medical reasons like surgery dental procedures etc.
I suggesting to use the antigen to screen for pcr trest. Only if u get a positive antigen result then would u be forwarded to do a pcr to confirm for surety its covid. U only using the positive antigen result to form a shortlist for pcr testing

From my understanding it's very cheap, easy, and quick.

That way u can cover a lot more population without consuming vuable pcr kits.

if someone is self-employed and turns up positive, is there any grant available for missing a month of income? not many people in a position to foot that 'out of pocket'

West shore send the man back home, that sounding like dodgy service
Unless that made him do a covid test and sent him home to wait on the test results.
If he have cardiac issues, wonder if govt providing a cardiologist

That is the unfortunate thing with covid, many health places don’t want to have anything to do with you if you are +

there is some grant or the other for about 20k for business owners, nedco or something. I didn't worry to apply cuz we worked straight through quarantine being deemed essential and following protocol.

But like now, nobody taking things serious. I still keep to myself and avoid people and normally wash my hands and face every few minutes with soap or degreaser.

My quarantine is voluntary btw. Taking precautions.
