Their population is more than twice...but we nearing 100 in two months with a population of approx 1.4mill....who worst than who?

Jamaica
Population: 2,890,000
Murders YTD: 202
Rate: 3.54 per day

T&T
Population: 1,369,000
Murders YTD: 92
Rate: 1.61 per day

Jamaica's population is approx. just over twice ours. In addition, their murder rate is also approx. just over twice ours.

So as sad as we are right now, Jamaica is still a bit worse than us.

So as sad as we are right now, Jamaica is still a bit worse than us.

A bad year for T&T is a promising year for Jamaica...rel.easy to calculate and compare..

We were both trending well in the early 2010's Jamaica even had a year with nine hundred plus and into the 30's per/100,000 down from 60's and 50's/100,0000..that's like 450 in T&T,we were just over 300 that year and into the 20's per/100,000...Jamaica would've had to have less than 700 that year to be on par with us ..

Everytime we go up they go up a time and a half to two times..

I remember as a kid in the 80's hearing Jamaica having 500 murders etc,everyone used to be in awe,in those days we had 50 + a year..most were really manslaughter from fights and domestic situations,cutlass and big stone,when people were really killed in premeditated circumstances those were like stories of legend..

1999 or 2000 was our last sub 100 year...with 91 I think..

Yes but we've never reached their heights of 50-60+/100,000...

And it's easy to calculate....they're roughly double our population,so if we have 500 they would have to have 1000 to be on apr with us..they usually have 12 to 1700 murders a year....

i see on d news 2nite 3 ppl died in a house fire , arson is suspected so when d autopsies are going to be done on monday might hadda add 3 more to list ....

Got the story, apparently folks claim that it was a hit, possibly domestic in nature.

The "guys" who were sent parked across the road where the doubles man usually is in the morning, and waited for her to open the store and go in.

When she did go in, they took the car and parked it in front of the store and proceeded to execute the woman, with their faces covered. She was shot 5 times, however remained alive.

Businesses did not here any gun shots at the time, leading them to suspect that the hit/gunmen used silencers or some such device. As a result the crime went largely unnoticed, it was only when a prospective customer went in was the body and subsequently the crime was discovered. This would have been about mid-morning, 9:30am to 10:00am.

Persons who were there afterward reported seeing the husband who was inquiring as to what was going on, they said upon hearing what had actually happened he got into a car and left heading toward Siparia.

If autopsies show they died due to circumstances surrounding the fire(burns or smoke inhalation)...would be up to fire services to prove arson??

On murder rate alone Haiti is nowhere in that league,but their problems are deeper,so murder rate isn't the only factor in a society...dynamics are more important..

Like who's getting killed more often and why..even if it's out of a much smaller murder rate ..

Having said that one murder is one too many and we must get a handle on things..

100 murders in 60 days = a murder rate of 1.666 per day. Forecast for 2020 at current rate = 610

Record for T&T is 550 back in 2008. Take some time and understand from all now that the ingredients are there to set another record this year. Stay safe out there guys, no one is immune.

Is there a sub-statistic about the actual murders? If the crims cleaning themselves out I eh mind.
If is 550 innocent people, that's a different story
