The PNM murder rate continues as normal.

On March 4th, our murder rate peaked at 1.796875 per day which theoretically gave us a 2020 est. of 658 (a record high).
Today, 26 days later, our rate is now 1.544 which gives us a 2020 est. of 565.
So COVID19 saved 90 lives because we lost 3 to the virus to-date.
Expect the steady decline to be politicized.

with, the rate is still high because it was almost record high for the first two months.. how about if all the rest of months are really low, like 20 or so a month.. low 300's by year's end..possibly high 200's if some restrictions are maintained ..

Is that sustainable?
No, we can't keep the country locked forever down because the GORTT cannot arrest the murder rate, so any figure solely due to those measures will be artificially low.

as long as the COVID around, expect a decrease in the murder stats, it has nothing to do with gov't policy

What was the murder rate on this day one year ago? WTK for comparison.Country_Bookie wrote:So we were at 126 on March 13th... and 145 now. That means 19 murders in 21 days, less than 1 a day.
Can't celebrate too early though, it's not like there's been anything done to have a permanent decrease in murders. As others have pointed out, it could just mean a bloodbath is in the works when ppl start back going out as normal and criminals try to make up for lost time.

We dont know how long this would last..circumstances alter cases..if this lasts a couple more months it can even influence general behaviours going forward, even if only in the short term..but this year's toll's gonna be significantly lower..De Dragon wrote:VII wrote:Tell us the figure for the last two weeks..and project similar figures for the rest of the year and see what you come up.
