Quick set up of media conference seems like they just going to announce Patriotic was not successful.
I was thinking the opposite, if its a few elements they were waiting on and they got it, then the decision would be quick.

No details provided so we wouldn’t know if criteria met or not.

OWTU got played for the elections. Sorry but i feel no sympathy. It was clear that the terms they proposed (i think no repayment for the facilities till 2030) were just false promises to garner their support for the elections.

LOL...

Come on now... we ALL... ALL ALL ALL knew OWTU/Patriotic was not going to get that refinery. Yes they got played during elections, dangle that carrot in front of their faces and got walked straight into a wall of embarrassment.

They called Rowley bluff in 2018 and bid on the refinery, i'll give them that but even then Rowley's intention was to give that refinery to another entity.

The Oilfields Workers Trade Union will be hosting a Press Conference tomorrow morning, (Sunday 1st November) to respond to the Minister of Energy’s statement and the government’s rejection of Patriotic’s bid to own the Petrotrin Refinery.

This Press Conference will be led by President General of OWTU Ancel Roget.

It was always the real estate at Pointe a Pierre they were after. Couldn't give a rats ass about an old, inefficient, decrepit oil refinery.

all the clapping an dancing after big announcement and now this, lol.
i feel Roget know from d beginning wha goin on, lie just like rowley when he say they the refinery eh closing when they were fully aware of that plan, never oppose the close down seriously, pretend to open a company to hire back loyalists as an election promise to get support then shutter plans as elections are won.
The unknown part here to the public is the endgame for the assets as is only rowley an him and a select few know what has been planned from the beginning since they separate PT.

Gotta admire the political mind that came up with this long game and playing the john public minds for absolute fools. Dis is a far cry from holding up a Microsoft Word document and claiming is a email, like PNM get some Cambridge Analytica level advisors now. I guess we can abandon common sense here like fool me once or fool me twice, in Trinidad you can fool a certain 320,000 or so required people to win an election all d time.

love it though, bound to get lots of work whoever restarts it either way.

Interesting perspective:

The UNC should be glad they lost the GE. If they won and didn't sell the refinery to patriotic...the OWTU and the PNM would have said it was malicious. ("because didn't we say Patriotic met all the criteria")

Now the OWTU and the PNM have to find a way to end this giant farce.

UNC will still get the blame in time to come, remember they said Caroni was because of UNC.

In Trinidad and Tobago you can win and still lose.
