Beninca vs TAU Gate motor

Postby surferdude » June 6th, 2017, 10:51 am

As the topic suggest I need to decide between Beninca and TAU. I have narrowed my search between these two brands.

I would appreciate any feedback in terms of

1. Reliability and Product related problems
2. Availability of parts, remote (generic) etc
3. Warranty

I have seen old posts but each manufacturer have updated their products so I am looking for recent feedback.

Thanks

I have a Beninca motor going on three years now.

The only problem I encountered was a failure of some electronic part on the board in the control box (the motor stopped working). A guy from TriniTuner was able to fix it at reasonable cost (around $400 or so).

One of the remotes fell and got damaged. I got one of those generic remotes as a replacement, but I can't remember the cost for the remote and programming. Sorry.

I have a tau gate motor and no issues with the motor itself (motor over 10 years i own it for 5 years ) . the only issue was the transmitter for the remote control started acting up but, i changed it my self with a chinese one from ebay . I could have gotten same crap locally but the gate people wanted to get rich on just working on my gate. thats over a year.

Which ever you decide make sure they use proper wires . On my system they used telephone wires between the detector sensors and it starting to deteriorate . make sure they run the wires in trunking under the ground

Tau uses rolling code remotes which there aren't generic ones available
So you have to pay $350 for original

Thanks very much.

By chance do you have a link to the transmitter you bought on ebay?

I have seen both Beninca and Tau using the rolling codes as well. I seen on amazon that there are generic ones but cant say if they will work for sure.

replacement rolling code remote bought at gate automation - $200.

Instead of buying remotes I use gogogate a module that allows the gate to be open via smart phone.

yeah it is actually easy to put in a third party wireless system, they all basically do the same thing
relay triggered
many persons have put the generic key remotes they use for magnetic locks on their gate motors.

About 8 years ago Vaughn Installed a beninca for me. He has been able to provide maintenance parts and support for me ever since.

Highly recommended.

Until your remote breaks and you have to buy a new one,
They don't even give you Vaseline
