Police swoop down on contractors

Postby Cooloh » June 2nd, 2017, 9:08 am

The Anti-Corruption Investigation Bureau (ACIB) yesterday raided the offices of five major contractors- TN Ramnauth & Company, Motilal Ramhit & Sons Construction, Namalco Group of Companies, Kall Co Ltd and Fides Ltd.

The Express understands the ACIB operation, headed by assistant superintendent (ASP) Yussef Alexander, was aimed at securing documents as they relate to the contracts awarded to them by the Estate and Management and Business Development Company Ltd (EMBD) during the tenure of the People's Partnership administration.

At that time, the EMBD fell under the Ministry of Housing and Environment headed by Dr Roodal Moonilal.

The Express was told all warrants were executed by the ACIB but asked for comment, head of Police Service's Corporate Communications Department Ellen Lewis said: “We do not comment on active investigations or on matters engaging the attention of the police.”

The Express was unable to get official comments from the contractors yesterday.

Fides??........not surprised at all. I always wondered how two lawyers opened up a contracting company and became such large contractors in such a short period of time.

Surprised a prominent foreign used dealer B [Vicks, Hicks, Licks] not in that as they also were contractors in that group.

There are a lot of contractors and hardwares that are owned by relatives of the owners of KallCo as well. They will need to crack down on them if they really want to be thorough.

Mind you a certain contractor that is know for working with the current government is finishing up works on the police station in town, no tenders were given out to local manufacturers yet, somehow they managed to import a lot of items that could have been sourced here and at better prices too. ..... but the bullsheit continues, each Party has their financiers and supporting companies.... it will never end.....

so where do they hide the vegas casino chips ?
Whoever came up with that idea of bobol payment is a genius.

They need to check contractors who travel regularly to vegas.

Probably the bobol currently ongoing at EFCL. I heard the chairman of the board of EFCL, and former minister, Arnold Piggott, resigned today. Probably doesn't want to face the JSC on Monday. They have some other board members, corporate secretary and technical services manager that need to resign. Anyway, we'll see what happens on Monday.

Yes, resignation is a great way to "protect" the PNM and your name.

Months of bobol, mismanagement and waste. The PNM of course will not pursue him as he is a lick arse right until the end, providing that the letter is authentic of course, because with this PNM you never know when you'll get another Emailgate
