Them dealers just use the tax break as an opportunity to make more profit

It should be as a tax break or a rebate where you pay the money upfront but get cash back later

But this PNM government is in the pockets of the new car dealers

The price you using is the retail price

I am sure the dealer will be getting a cheaper price

The 2023 Ioniq USA MSRP is the same as the invoice (wholesale) price. You can start discussing USA rebates and holdbacks if you want to truly understand dealer transaction costs.

$400k is maybe kinda comparable to world prices, however, we can guarantee we not getting world features.

Trinidad is waiving customs duty, motor vehicle tax, and VAT.

The US has a 2.5% import duty on cars but a version of the Ionic is also manufactured in the US.

The US charges sales tax (varies by state) and has EV/hybrid tax credits that lower federal income tax payments due.

No the 5 is still being manufactured. The Inoniq 6 is not a newer model 5, it is a different model entirely - like 323 and 626 etc.
The licensed dealerships can only carry what is made available to the Caribbean market.
Which is probably why Massy don't sell Serena etc

Surprisingly service intervals are every 2 years.

Cabin air filters and Brake fluid flush done at the two year marks
AC desiccant bag replacement at 4 year mark
... Can be done by any mechanic with youtube, heck you can even do it yourself.

Wiper blades and tire rotation/new tires to be done as needed.

That's about it folks.

unless you need major warranty work.

The Model 3 at 40000 US will be a no brainer considering gas savings

If we get the 25000us so called model 2 even better

Ideal would be tesla opening a branch in Trinidad

The grip of the one percent on the PNM is strong, and I do not think they will allow it

The no tax on EVs are until Dec 2023.
Wonder if they will continue it or start back charging tax on them

Given the UK price, how much you think the car should sell for here?

This is not the next model Ioniq - this is a whole different car - the regular Ioniq is still being manufactured.

Wasn't the regular Ioniq discontinued in 2022?

It was discontinued in South Korea but, according to JD Power, build-out continued in Malaysia until the plant was changed-over this year.
