Hospital security breached, intern robbed

There are concerns over security measures at the Port of Spain General Hospital after a young intern was robbed at gunpoint.

The North West doctors association is calling on the hospital's management to take action, or it warns that its members will withhold non-essential services on Wednesday.

Heard from a doctor relative on duty that it was more than a robbery...it was a brutal rape.....
They may take action to shut down the hospital until they get tighter security.....

More competent security is needed . Reports indicated that she passed 4 security guards/points whilst walking with the perpetrator and not one of them noticed something was wrong.

Security guards need proper training and at least secondary school education. .
How effective one can be if the requirement for being employed is being big and chupid.

what you expect when them contracted security officers working for minimum wage working 12/24 hour shift?

Breaking News - Intern lied

The Ministry of Health has revealed that the intern who reported being robbed at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, lied about the incident.

The Ministry said the truth came out during a meeting today.

The following is the Ministry's statement:

"The Ministry of Health takes matters of security of the staff and patients of the nation’s public health facilities very seriously. Accordingly the Ministry notes with great concern the reports of an alleged attack against an Intern, Medical Services of the Port of Spain General Hospital and the alleged poor security response.

The Ministry of Health wishes to advise that following receipt of this information a meeting was held between officials of the NWRHA and the intern in the presence of her parents, at which time it was revealed that the report given by the intern was fabricated. A complete report on the matter has been requested from the NWRHA.

Notwithstanding the above, the Ministry advises that the CEO and General Manager of Operations, NWRHA, have held very productive talks with the North West Doctors’ Association at the Port of Spain General Hospital with a view to resolving any security issues that may be relevant.

It is material to note that the Intern is currently not on duty.

The Ministry of Health remains committed to ensuring that all employees working within the public health institutions and members of the public are provided with a safe environment."
