Yea was impressed, the visuals almost on par with JJ's movies, thought it was originally gonna be a low budget style of show. Storyline is decent

Watched both episodes. It's ok but definitely not "Star Trek".

Seth MacFarlane's The Orville is much closer to "Star Trek" than Discovery. It comes across as a cheesy rip-off of TNG but like the older series it deals with current and social issues in a similar format. The third episode was quite good and the subtle comedy is appreciated.

New Star Trek series to start on CBS

Postby dredman1 » October 1st, 2017, 10:35 am

Finally got a chance to watch Discovery on Netflix.

Not bad, but I guess it will take me a few more episodes to connect with the new characters.

Funniest thing for me was the availability of subtitles in klingon as well as english in the options menu on Netflix

lol yeah I rewatched pieces with the Klingon subtitles, interesting touch for hardcore trekkies. I'm not one though, I was really only into ST TNG.

Damn the third episode was good. Overall the show seems to be heading in the right direction. Sonequa Martin-Green appears comfortable in the role and the tie-ins to canon Trek are well placed. The ship battle in the second episode seemed reminiscent of DS9 Dominion battles.

It looks amazing and is entertaining. Timeline doesn't matter to me.
