Another blow to the countrys YOUNGER drivers

Postby BRZ » May 10th, 2016, 7:57 am

Wayz, now hearing that they may seriously be making it 19 years old to get your drivers permit from Next year! and that will only be a provisional learners permit that you can only drive WITH someone who more experienced for a further year.
Well YES, this is going to be interesting.

a look need to be taken at educating all drivers also statistics should show which age group of drivers have the most accidents and appropriate action taken. also without a good link in licensing the date u apply for your learners till the time u get your driving test is almost a year 7-8 months at least so the year thing ..lol

^ let them wait they will learn how to really drive PROPERLY by that time.

I don't however think that the age limit need to be increased as you can be inexperienced at any age but the restrictions for the first year after getting the permit is actually the norm in many other countries

Plan to have very few driving tests over the next couple years to revamp the licensing system maybe? New test, implement simulators and PC based exams regulation exams?

Next move should include removing the touts in licensing office. .

Trini culture is to save bribe money to get license. ..

My father made us drive for a year with adult supervision before we were allowed to drive on our own. And we had to take defensive driving courses. I don't have much of an issue with this. However if I were a 16 year old turning 17 next year and excited to get my license I'd be quite upset.

Sheit. Proper defensive driving courses should be made mandatory with refreshers every five years when renewing license. What is to stop the inexperienced driver from merely getting another youth as their designated experienced driver and to continue to not drive safely?

Backward move. It was 17 so long without mandatory defensive driving, speed camera/guns etc.
Put those things in place 1st. Then review again.

Most JA drive is see is definitely not from 17-20yr olds

Pretty easy for us all here to advocate for this when we all got ours (or had the potential to get ours at 17)

jus cuz u don't hear about it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. It have more than a few young drivers out dey causing plenty accidents damaging ppl cars & property. it might not make the news, but its still a real issue.
besides, I take issue with the idea of a person who can't be held criminally, legally or financially responsible enough to enter a legal contract being able to operate a vehicle that requires a contract with an insurance company to legally be on the nations roads.

but daiz just me.

Hmmm. Not sure how I feel about this. An untrained and inexperienced driver can be 17 or 19 or 21, would prefer more rigorous testing to get license and stipulations on what speed young drivers are allowed to do, zero tolerance on alcohol etc

This will still not stop passing change for ones permit. Trin is friend friend and those with cash society or well known

When last a whiteboy or Syrian was seen taking driving lessons, writing the regulations or taking the driving test. Plenty Chinese have permits and they can't read or write English to well. How did they pass regulations

So you can get married at 16 have a child 16, vote at 18, but you can't drive at 19.

That is progress

If this is true, it seems like everywhere a bird sheits, we intend to put laglee. Are these decisions ever going to be made on facts, analyses?

I think children should be getting behind the wheel of a training vehicle by 12. Closed course or simulator. Mandatory instruction and defensive driving as part of high school curriculum. Should be taught everything in regs in social studies in primary school. Provisional license by 15 and full license by 16. Now we going to have some dumb ole inexperienced fcuks who can't drive buying their licence at a later age and mommy and daddy have to drive their arse around for two more years.
