What damage was done to yours? Bumper alone hopefully?

Bumper and taillight. Neither available that I could find locally. $3k to repair and repaint bumper in that fancy 3 layer paint, $280 USD for the LED taillight before customs charges. Will put some pics when I can resize tomorrow.

exactly, put yourself in the other guy's position and if it was you reversing like he was doing and someone backed out of a yard and hit you, you wouldve felt that the person coming out of the yard was errant. In a case like this, the honorable thing to do would be for each party to fix themselves...

but put something in place where you wouldnt have a re occurrence

I reverse into my yard immediately solved all my problems

Invest in a reverse camera and you good to go

Reversing out of your garage blindly was an accident waiting to happen

that coulda been worst so count ur lucky stars

kinda impossible for man in d car to see anything coming at that angle - not even a reverse cam or reverse sensor coulda prevent this cause of d speed pickup coming

pickup man careless coming down at that speed & blind not to notice a bright white car poking out

it might end up in each driver fixing his own ride ... each hadda eat d loss though d pickup seems far less like maybe a 500 or under 1k

Correct.. and it may happen again. He has been obviously operating under the assumption that any vehicle using the small road will be driving in a forward manner causing them to always see him and stop/ blow horn etc.

But what about the possibility of a child riding a bike or him exiting at the same instant the vehicle is passing as in the case of the video.

Reversing into the yard won’t help him that much. The wall and privacy gate won’t permit much vision.

At least wind down your windows and turn off music when making those drives.. maybe you may hear something coming.

Drive forward cautiously and you will be good

The driver is closer to the exit when going forward than when reversing

It will certainly help

Hence the law about not reversing onto a major road

From my lifelong observations, armyman does drive reckless whether is state-owned or private vehicles, regardless of any road condition.

Van man added to the damage too by moving forward after ya'll hit. He should've just waited for u to roll forward

As stated previously, aim to reverse into ur yard to prevent such issues in future

Some regular non premium vehicles sold locally are equipped with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert (BSM+RCTA) available in the higher trims, example:

Subaru XV
Subaru Forester
Hyundai Ioniq
Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai Sonata
Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai Santa Fe
Kia Niro
Kia Cerato
Kia Sportage
Kia Sorento
Chevrolet Equinox
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

I'm sure there is more...

So in my wife's vehicle, when reversing, the RCTA would have alerted her of cross traffic movement whether it be a pedestrian walking or riding a bicycle or even a moving vehicle.

In a Subaru equipped with EyeSight and Vision Assist package, the vehicle includes Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) which upon detection of the cross traffic, would autonomously apply brakes to avoid a collision.

Besides these new Subarus, most Nissan Xtrail Hybrids come with RAB and a couple more grey market imports have it too. Thanks to this feature and as good as I am as a driver, I almost collided with a brand new E350e more than a year ago with my XH because I took the angle wrong to reverse park into a fairly tight spot. RAB saved me a lot of coin that day.

Anyway, back to regular scheduled crashing.

Is there is a limited coverage for the sensors to work...like if a car is speeding from far?..it may not pick it up.

I was always curious about the range myself so what I will do is when I get the opportunity, I will post my findings here.

I'm not sure how... but for my car if the vehicle behind me is speeding it picks it up earlier... if the vehicle is slower it will pick it up a little later... idk if thats how they typically work... so like a pedeastrian... will only get pick up lets say 6 feet away from me... a slowly moving car like 8 feet... a fast moving car... like 12 feet... my maths not 100 percent eh... but thats how it works for me
