Machel Montano - "On My Way" - the official music video, premiering live on CNC3 at 7:55 PM tonight in TnT! The theme song of #MachelMonday and the MONK Movement - watch the movement begin! I will be in studio at 7:30 PM for a live interview before the premiere. Look for the video and song later tonight on YouTube & Soundcloud.
Stripped bare, unburdened by assumptions, and laid before the world to see, Monk Monté unveils a release and accompanying video, that shares the spiritual journey he has taken from his first breath of life to this very moment in time. The story follows the evolution from a young boy starting in the Pyramids of Mother Africa, making his way full circle back to the Trinity Hills of his current home in Trinidad & Tobago, paying respect to all the magical steps along the way.
The evolution of self is personified through the characters in the video, two of which are played by Machel's very own son and father.
The moving number, “On My Way”, is a soulful tale and tribute to the land and musical culture, Machel was predestined to arise from and grow within.
Powerful lyrics intertwined with riveting drums and emotional visuals, paint a poignant picture of heritage alongside an innate connection to the birthplace of Soca.
Springing from this music, produced by Starblu and co-written by Tishon Singh & Machel Montano, is that intangible warmth, and effervescent joy these islands are well known for.
This is a track which will touch hearts and lead souls to sing in euphoric frenzy, as they celebrate the blessing of just being alive right here and right now.
The video and song was launched on CNC3, one of Trinidad & Tobago's premier national broadcasters.

We do not need words when we have music, and there can be no boundaries once there is love.
Living proof of this is readily seen in the creation and inspiring journey of “Soundbang”, the first collaborative effort between Major Lazer and Monk Monté. This hit served to formerly introduce Major Lazer to the Soca world at 2014’s Machel Monday, while it simultaneously became the wings that carried the hybrid of Soca and EDM to every corner of the globe.
After such success and much to the thrill of music lovers everywhere, these two ingenious forces are back together again, this time though, along with the voice of a Mega Star, who has been described as having the best female vocals in pop music today.
In an amazing push forward for Soca, Machel Montano, joins Major Lazer and Ariana Grande on the remix for the song “All My Love”, which was originally featured on the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
Ariana’s astonishing vocal range, together with Machel’s passionate Caribbean vitality, alongside Major Lazer’s skilful and worldly touch, were all melded together to create an exquisite world sound. Beyond question this resulting track will ignite hearts and blaze new musical trails, setting the globe afire with love.
But look out though, because this is just the first of much more to come from the team of Major Lazer and the Monk, in fact up next Sean Paul unites with them in a smasher that will turn the whole music game on its ear.
Revellers have been warned this Carnival: Do not wine on any police officer. Aggressive wining can land you in jail if the officer becomes fearful. So said acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Harold Phillip, the Gold Commander in charge of security operations for Carnival 2015. Speaking at the weekly police briefing at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain, he also warned that covering yourself in body paint alone and lewd behaviour could also land a reveller in jail.
Phillip said someone covered in body paint alone was regarded as being lewd and this was an offence. “Well certainly being lewd in the public is in fact an offence and with respect to wining on police officers performing duties we will ask the public to desist in so doing. “It normally goes with the time but we also expect the officer to act responsibly and we also hope the public will conduct themselves in a responsible manner. If you are naked that is an offence,” Phillip added.
Asked if it was illegal to “wine” on a police officer, Phillip said no. He said such an action could not be regarded as an assault since by its definition an assault would require that the person apprehended fear. “Normally someone taking a casual touch... we would exercise a high degree of discretion during Carnival. So once someone doesn’t dirty our uniforms or if they don’t adhere to our instructions things can go to the next level but basically we are extremely tolerant and we take it in stride,” Phillip said.
On the issue of sufficient manpower for the season, Phillip said despite threats by the Police Association to boycott events, police officers would be out in full force. If officers did not show up for duty, Phillip said, there was a contingency plan in place. He said there were also 173 recruits in training, who would be sworn in as police officers before Carnival and were capable of making arrests and carrying out other policing functions.
Apart from the recruits the special reserve officers, municipal police, Parliament police, transit police, traffic wardens and the T&T Defence Force would assist, he said. Phillip said the issue of glass bottles being banned for Carnival had been discussed and was now in the hands of the Government for possible inclusion in the Carnival regulations.
MORE INFO Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Harold Phillip said even though he has been put in charge of security operations for Carnival 2015, it will not distract him from investigating allegations against former attorney general Anand Ramlogan on claims of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Asked if he would be able to complete his other tasks, he said: “All work that we are so detailed to do, we do it to the best of our ability.”
Phillip made no further comments, saying he was there to respond to Carnival-related matters.
The Monk Monté is hitting you with a London Future club banger that is so hard, when it smashes onto the airwaves, your entire body will be compelled to “Jump”!
Make no mistake, its bass will hammer across your spine firing up your limbs until they pump incessantly to the electrifying melodies.
Also adding his raucous flavour to this one is Hip-Hop Legend Fatman Scoop, who incites listeners with his distinctive booming vocals, belting out commands and pushing everyone into that untouchable nuclear zone.
All of this is a lot of power for just a single track, but yet, there is more to it.
This release also serves as the Soca initiation of one of the youngest but most skilled all-around entertainers in the world today. Actor, comedian, dancer, and rapper Papa Jay slams into his first Carnival with bold lyrics and a fresh style, which are sure to charm, even as he whips the crowd into a furor.
Be prepared, because as this drops, nothing will ever be the same again.
