What server are you checking it to? You need to check it to a local server, Digi or flow server is best, can't test connection speed to Miami, you hardly ever get full connection speed to outside the Caribbean

Ultra HD bandwidth is around 25 mbps. HD bandwidth is only about 5mbps.

If you are having problems with streaming, it may also be the quality of the connection. You may want to check the jitter also.

Had to get a mobile router/ hotspot from them on January 2019 and the reception is so horrible. How did bmobile bypass digicel in cell phone service ? Cannot wait for the one year contract to be done . $350 wasted on a monthly basis

Hey guys I need a small favor done can you all do a speedtest to Digicel Barbados and Digicel Jamaica? I wanna investigate something

I did a test from Flow Trinidad to Flow Barbados and this is what I got, I wanna see how bad Digicel is with latency to their own network on other Islands compared to Flow.

^^ It says Arris Flow? isn't that a Flow to Barbados speedtest on Digicel server?

I was asking for someone to use their Digicel Fiber and do a speedtest to Digicel servers in Jamaica and Barbados.

here u go ED, with a traceroute showing the packets flow to Jamdown Digi SpeedTest site, you would note it flows directly over internal subnets on Digi network instead on open internet or to USA for transit.

Tracing route to digijmres-116-250-225-173.digicelbroadband.com [173.225.250.116]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 2 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.17.1
2 4 ms 4 ms 4 ms 179.60.213.153
3 5 ms 46 ms 48 ms 179.60.213.198
4 48 ms 47 ms 48 ms 179.60.213.213
5 48 ms 50 ms 53 ms digijmres-97-249-225-173.digicelbroadband.com [173.225.249.97]
6 50 ms 52 ms 52 ms 172.31.13.47
7 52 ms 49 ms 49 ms 66.54.126.96
8 50 ms 52 ms 53 ms 66.54.126.97
9 52 ms 66 ms 66 ms 172.31.13.42
10 66 ms 72 ms 70 ms 172.31.14.107
11 219 ms 230 ms * 172.31.9.72
12 207 ms 211 ms 86 ms 172.31.12.37
13 86 ms 71 ms 71 ms digijmres-116-250-225-173.digicelbroadband.com [173.225.250.116]

Trace complete.

Interesting test ED.

Ping times from Digicel (ISP) to Digicel Speedtest servers:
Chaguanas, Trinidad - < 50 km - 4 ms
Bridgetown, Barbados - ~ 300 km - 12 ms
Georgetown, Guyana - ~ 550 km - 118 ms
Kingston, Jamaica - ~ 1850 km - 81 ms
Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - ~ 16900 km - 339 ms

Ping times from Digicel (ISP) to FLOW Speedtest servers:
Chaguanas, Trinidad - < 50 km - 97 ms
Bridgetown, Barbados - ~ 300 km - 118 ms
Kingston, Jamaica - ~ 1850 km - 82 ms

Has anyone successfully set up port forwarding with Digicel?

If so, is there a guide I can follow?

hello everyone i have a question

i usually play fifa online and recently the game had an update which shows me my latency it apparently 86ms, speaking to similar people who plays the game they said i should be looking for a provider where i get 50 and below

so currently on flow, one of the reason i have tried digicel yet is cause of the whole year contract didn't want to commit to it and it gives me the the same issue as flow, but now i know that the problem could be latency is there anyone i could know what latency digicel would be giving me

thanks in advance

Digicel will save you approx 10ms latency due to it being FTTH. In many cases it will make 0 difference from here to the US, I tested this extensively over many years so that is how I can tell you this.

Digicel has superior international routing and peering agreement than Flow but it is very sketchy for example one place in Canada you will get 40ms latency from Trinidad where as everywhere else you will get double that and 100ms or more. You aren't going to accomplish anything if you switch to Digicel for gaming except LOWER bandwidth for downloading these huge games in which case Flow still better.

Long story short both ISP are 3rd world ISP and operate exactly like that. What you are asking for is only possible when StarLink comes Online next year. It isn't possible with traditional ISP due to geographic distances and poor performance of Fiber over such long distances. Fiber doesn't operate at the speed of light nowhere close even tho it actually uses light. Low Orbit StarLink on the other hand does operate at the speed of light with extremely minimal hops, this is basically futuristic internet made possible because of 1 man named Elon Musk who decided that human greatness and advancing the world through science must be his number 1 priority.

come on digicel and flow, everyone home or working from home, do the good corporate ting and double the bandwidth for a lil while or unlock all the bandwidth. give back to your customers who support your product all the while.
