Do you need only cameras?
Are you using IP or analog?

Guys,

Early next year I am planning to change out my cameras, what I am looking for is a camera that can show number plates at night and show quality detail not pixelated stuff. The ones that I have now are out dated and I really can't make out anything other than outlines

Right now they are Coax, should I move to IP?

Could you all recommend cameras that can give me good quality

Thanks

Hi guys,

I'm upgrading my cameras from coaxial to ip.

I have everything I need for the new setup

NAS
Cameras PoE
Cables
Viewing software

What I am unsure about is the PoE switch. Can anyone recommend a switch that can power 16 cameras?

Thanks

Amazon have some nice switches as good prices with warranty. Might be cheaper to buy 2 8 channel switches than one 16 channel.

good post here.
I myself did some installation for some family and friends.
Hooking up the cameras and dvr is no problem , the real challenge comes with routing the cables for neatness or to hide them.

This entails according to the location going up in attics /ceilings, climbing at heights with ladders, having a good drill and bits for making holes on or through concert walls for passing cables, installing trunking or boxes.

Next challenge is setting / configuring the respective apps or software for proper recording, security and remote viewing.

I installed a few systems bought from price mart ie swann and qsee.
Recently I started using cat5 cables with the respective balums.

One thing people should note , if you are using an 8 or 16 camera system for remote monitoring you will need an internet connection with a high UPLOAD speed such as over 3 mb/s.

Only problem I have so far is with the email set up.

Which company would you recommend to install a CCTV system with both Cloud and DVR storage? Must be neat and professional? Contact information? Location?

Guys, have a home camera system, where I could have access the app from my phone remotely. I switched from Flow to Digicel and the camera guy cannot get the app back working. Any ideas?

Try turning off the power to all cameras and the dvr for a minute. Then connect after powering on.

It does amaze me the sheit men does want to write, if you cant give sensible advise then better you dont post anything.

Adoni you switched ISPs that why, flow does not have any restrictions with their port forwarding. Digicel ports have to be configured on the router as their rules and protocols are different. If your cctv technician cant get this to work i suggest you change him.

I have pm you the steps, any advise you need let me know.

Newer systems dvr/nvr no port forwarding needs to be done in the modem or router, once there is internet connection and configuration done in dvr/nvr you’re on , hence the reboot that worked

You seem to know your stuff. Can you assist me on how to set up my dvr to view remotely? I have Digicel as my provider and as you mentioned I will need to port forward

Your problem may of been similar but not all systems are the same.
factors that may vary for digicel are external ports vs internal ports on dvr, firmware version on modem and handshake between both devices.
Relying on p2p application on the dvr to sync with router means you do not understand networking, routing or the principles of the osi model. There is a difference between qualified and certified but do carry on .

Adoni try fokhan solution, if it does not work, you can contact me for assistance.

You are right. I know nothing about networking or anything of the fancy stuff you just mentioned. But what is wrong my method if it works.

Old thread yes but I’m also looking for recommendations on a good home system.

Are the Swann systems from pricemart any good? I’m seeing the HIK Vision brand or something so highly advertised but I’m exploring options cost wise
