Viewing DVR over TSTT Blink Zhone router without static IP

Postby DIDDY » November 19th, 2013, 1:22 pm

Ok so I got a 4-Channel DVR system connected directly to blink's lame Zhone router and it gets a LAN IP address and the DNS over DHCP, so now i'm using the WAN IP that is currently on the Zhone router and trying to connect to it over the internet.

Did the port forward to the DVR and got nothing,
Did the DMZ to the DVR and got nothing,
Called TSTT and asked if the firewall is off and they said its off so (got nothing),

Is there something extra i'm missing here for this Blink router? its frustrating!!!

Thanks man but i did also try using Noip to do the dyanamic dns but i found that even if the assigned IP doesn't change a cant access my Cameras at all...once i know for sure that it could work with the IP assigned to it at a specific time i would then apply DDNS to that.

Did you put the DVR in the DMZ?

Does the DVR run a windows OS? You may have to check the firewall on it. Disable just to be sure.

Did the port you forward a non standard meaning something besides port 80, 8080, 21, 22, 23, 443 etc?

Have you ever had another machine/service listening behind the router and have successfully accept a connection? I'm wondering if tstt isnt checking their end properly...

Oh I forgot to mention. You should not try to attempt connecting to the WAN IP of the DVR when behind the same internet connection... that never works for me. I usually have to test from a phone with a data connection.

Once you put the DVR in the DMZ and created a forwarded port/virtual server for the DVR IP then remotely try to access the public IP. Make sure as said before that you use a non standard port. I usually use 9000.

That should take you to the DVR login page.

can you enable logging on your router and take a look at the logs to see what happens when you try to access the DVR from the WAN side?

Try using wireshark to access your DVR from the WAN and see what it reports. Strange it's not working since these DVR setups are quite easy ... simply create a virtual server on your router and forward the required ports from your WAN port to the LAN segment your internal DVR is on.

Bumping this thread
Recently got a dvr and trying to connect it for remote access.have it locally connected. Having problems port forwarding tru tstt comtrend router
The dvr is connected to a linksys e1200 and that router is connected to the adsl router/modem
I know im going to the NAT setup but two things are confusing me
1.What is the Server ip address?the dvr ip or the comtrend router
2. What is the remote ip?

Comtrend router interface really sucks... linksys, cisco even dlink interface is better

This is usually the face of the TSTT rep when you're talking to them.
Try another application to see if you can get past from outside the dmz.
Make sure their firewall's down.

Bro, I hooked up a Q-See DVR and was able to view on my phone both while connected to the network home and also while out.

I have the 3G enable on my phone.

Using the Flow router at home.

Worked fine for the first few days then the external viewing stopped, a friend checked it and he had 4G on his phone and easily connected without issue. It seems TSTT link is the problem hasn't quite sorted that out as yet.

there is no problem using TSTT to transmit or receive data via a DVR opening certain ports your problem may very well be listed below.

this is why i sell these:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=548636

no more dependency on static or dyndns!!!

cloud systems. i also sell the DVR only

let me tell you, about 1 yr ago i got out of the cctv biz solely because of tstt. customers would complain about the remote view not working. i would call tstt and they would tell me the firewall is deactivated. it was all lies. customers didnt want to hear the blame game. my dvrs were not basic dvrs. they were GE symdecs valued at over $20,000.

try a cloud system, over 30 sold and not a complaint from a single customer. remote cloud view in a snap

Did you verify that the port is actually open , using an online port scanner check to see if the TCP/UDP port that you`ve done the port forwarding for is open.

Post a pics of the port forwarding settings?

If you need help i can assist you remotely, just PM me.

opened ports on the comtrend router, followed up with TSTT to make sure they were not blocking any of the ports and that there firewall was disabled and then verified open ports with online port scanner.
TSTT 2mb connection gave me alot of problems with the video stream,it wasnt very reliable.
flow was the answer there.
Pm me for any more information
