Silly season.

A non issue trying to be made into a story.

Lewis will be on the grid to win his 8th WDC.

Two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso has been hospitalised after fracturing his jaw after being hit by a car while riding his bike.

Alonso was struck during a training ride near Lugano in Switzerland, and underwent a “successful corrective operation” in hospital in Bern today.

He was treated in hospital immediately after the incident but was conscious and “well in himself”, his Alpine F1 team said in a statement.

Alonso is returning to F1 this season with Alpine - formerly the Renault team - after two years out, and the team is confident he will be fit for the opening race of the season in Bahrain on March 28.

His team said in a statement today: “Following his cycling accident yesterday, Fernando Alonso was kept under observation in hospital in Switzerland. Medics discovered a fracture in his upper jaw and conducted a successful corrective operation. The attending medical team are satisfied with his progress.

“Fernando will remain under observation in hospital for a further 48 hours. We expect him to be fully operational to undertake preparation for the season.”

He's basically on the same track that Lewis did with McLaren.

It's way more difficult when you're not wealthy, but once he keeps proving himself, he can work his way up the junior formulas.

That’s John Powell’s son.
Alex is more Trini than Jamaican as he lived and went to school here, but his passport is Jamaican and that’s what FIA uses as the nationality.

He’s only 12 or 13 years old.

I'm guessing nationality is based on what passport he carries.

Anyhow. I'm sure given the chance they would probably choose brand "Jamaica" vs brand TT just for marketability purposes.

So the parents are not wealthy to fund their child's advancement in the sport?

John Powell isn't poor per se, but compared to the current F1 parents and ex driver parents he's nowhere as rich.

When you can bring in tens of millions in sponsorship money, your race craft might be your 2nd best asset. Look how many billionaire and wealthy families are there currently.

Lewis Hamilton – Father worked multiple jobs to fund his karting career

Sebastian Vettel – Father was a carpenter

Valtteri Bottas – Father had a small cleaning company, mother was an undertaker

Max Verstappen – Son of ex-F1 driver Jos and quick karting racer Sophie Kumpen

Alex Albon – Son of sometime racer Nigel and Thai businesswoman Kankamol

Sergio Perez – Son of a fairly wealthy businessman and politician

Lance Stroll – Son of billionaire businessman Lawrence

Daniel Ricciardo – Father ran a medium-sized transport company

Esteban Ocon – Son of Laurent, owner of a small local garage

Lando Norris – Son of wealthy pension manager Adam

Carlos Sainz Jr – Son of legendary world rally champion Carlos

Pierre Gasly – Born into a motor racing family, but not believed to be a wealthy one

Daniil Kvyat – Son of Vyacheslav, a financial director with a Russian energy company

Charles Leclerc – Son of the late Herve Leclerc, former F3 driver. Not believed to be wealthy

Kimi Raikkonen – Modest family background, father a forestry worker

Antonio Giovinazzi – Modest family background, father a salesman

Kevin Magnussen – Son of ex-F1 driver Jan

Romain Grosjean – Son of a bank employee with a motorsports interest

George Russell – Son of small business owner Steve

Nicholas Latifi – Son of billionaire businessman Michael

Nikita Mazepin – Son of billionaire chemical magnate Dmitry

Mick Schumacher – Son of billionaire ex F1 champion Michael.

Right. So it doesn't seem to be a sport where being wealthy is a must. Like I said I'm sure that brand "Jamaica" would have its perks as well. Wouldn't be hard to slap a sandals sticker somewhere on the car. I think his family is well off enough to fund this. They certainly are better off than the likes of Lewis Hamilton's parents as well as countless others.

He also lives in Europe now and let's be honest he doesn't look like the typical brown or black caribbean youth so european sponsorship may also be interested as long as he is a good driver.

Very few sponsors.

Williams always had people lining up for some ad space on their car.

Basic cable doesn't have it unless you pay for FOX movies I think, and even then it would be in Spanish.

I just use do what most people do.
Find an illegal stream.

F1tv is 25% off this week I believe. But still $60/year for proper hd streams that actually work is worth it. That's less than $3us a race.

https://wtf1.com/post/f1-tv-are-offerin ... this-week/

Kinda upset that my subscription expires after monaco at the end of May so I have to pay full price.
