Yeah, I really don't understand why Ricciardo left. He's not winning a championship at McLaren. Is he afraid that Ocon will beat him? Maybe he thinks Renault will leave F1 and wanted to go somewhere that may be there longer.

Renault forked out a lot of $ for him to be there and he was supposed to help them develop the car. They were definitely not happy signed with someone else.

Lol what are you on about? Blocked twice by his teammate when fighting for a championship and he should be punished? Which top driver hasn't had a run in with their teammate?

Doubt he's afraid of ocon. Matched seb and max.
Sour rship with the team maybe? It was clear he was getting really frustrated at the end of last year, and noone seems to like cyril

Yeah I guess it could be that he just couldn't work with Cyril. Probably Renault thought he would have been faster instead of just being on par with Nico which ended up making the relationship go sour.

DC was in a championship winnings for 2 years when Mika won.

Webber was in a championship winning car for 4 years when Vettel won.

Danny Ric has never been in a WDC winning car.

Ultimately it'll come down to which car he's in...and his teammate...
Ric started to get too full of himself imo...and the desperation was clear at the end of last season

My thoughts on Vettel.
He isn't a team player.
Because he won championships in the manner that he did it simply reinforced the negative traits that he had that got him there; disobeying team orders, going back on agreements, thinking that your teammate doesn't deserve to win. These are the same traits that we see in Vettel at Ferrari and it shows up more when he has a teammate that can more consistently match him or beat him.

He probably needs or wants an entire team behind him, and that includes the other driver in the team :)

I can't remember seeing Mark blocking him, squeezing him and making the line into corners difficult yes, but not blocking (Not quite Rosberg esque at Austria)

He is definitely a character; Cussing Charlie Whiting (yeah not a real fan of Max in his early F1 days either), pulling alongside Lewis and bumping into him under safety car cause he thought that he was brake checked.

Top drivers that didn't run into teammates:
Lewis and Bottas, Jenson and Rubens, Alonso and Massa, Kimi and Massa, Alonso and Jenson

Can't wait to see if/how this DAS system works during quali and the race itself... Also want to find out how it compares to last year's car (aka force India's carbon copy)

Wow, thought the race was going to be a Sunday drive for 40 laps, then came the retirements, mechanical issues, safety cars and the curbs destroying the car sensors.

Insane last 10 laps.

First race of the season did not disappoint

Mercedes drivetrains seem a bit fragile/Honda is definitely fragile

Morris first podium

Sainz is still racing hard for McLaren

I was really disappointed in Lewis for that move, he better than that, really felt it for Alex, we deserved to finish that race.

I have high hopes for him....

Looking at Lewis’s steering wheel it’s clear that he maintained full right turn. Albon took too much of a risk passing on the outside. I think this was a racing incident. IMHO.

The stewards who have access to the telemetry can determine whether or not Lewis left room. They can see the exact number of degrees of turn on his wheel at the point in time, and see if he had more to give or he was under steering.

Albon likes to overtake on the outside though, it's never safe and there's a higher chance of you being run off course.

He would have surely eventually taken Lewis and Bottas since he was on the softs.

d!ck move by hamtotee
He knew damn well where the move was coming from, and tried to shut the door even though he had lost the fight
He is tooo smart and calculating to make a 'mistake' like that, and you can tell the 'senior' guys don't like the young hotshots doing things like braking late and going around the outside....there's always been a stupid pecking order in F1. Good to see guys like Albion and Max saying nah, fukdis crap, I can pass them here, and making their moves stick

yup, i agree and i am a fan of lewis. Im noticing more and more some times he's a sour sport if he's not in the top spot. this entire race he was upset he was behind, when they started warning him about the sensors, he kept saying valterri taking the curbs more, why they dont tell him too. I dont thing his intention was to get alex out of the race, but it was a clear f*&* you small man take some gravel....!
