The only place that had the parts was Massy, they wanted $1500 excluding vat for the abs sensor alone, didnt check the nps switch price.

Question

It's my first time buying a part cuming from the uae. The part will be going from the uae to usa florida will I have to pay any additional taxes?

I often buy parts cuming from japan in amayama so I don't worry so is dis anything to worry about

If it's a skybox or similar shipping service from Florida to Trinidad then yes, normal duties and VAT will apply.

So I ordered a G11 Sylphy FR outer door handle for someone who broke their handle.
$27.81us cost of handle and $14.01us delivery Amayama charged.

Package left Japan on May 16th, and I got the collection invoice today from TTPost, $120tt duty and $78tt vat.
Customs valued the package for $400tt though. :? The EMS customs declaration slip had a value of 3315yen :?

Total tt cost landed $463 using the current US exchange rate based on what I paid Amayama. Now Massy has one handle in stock for $519. Saved the person $56

Was the wait worth it?

Well I submitted the inquiry to Amayama on Sat May 9th, order was accepted on the 12th and paid for same day, left Japan on the 16th, and in my hands today. Less than 2 weeks, but the price difference was not significant.
If the person needed the door handle asap, would have been better to buy from Massy.

Yup basically that's it. If you can get it locally and you need it soon, $50 extra won't hurt you.

I use amayama for hard to get stuff and I don't order 1 part onlu. I try to order a few items at a time. Shipping won't hurt as much

Morpheus seeing that you order quite regularly, are the duties and tax charges accurate or usually less than you expect them to be?

It's been a while. Rear suspension bushing minor overhaul......

Lard tax in meh max!

At least when I utter the famous, "I only use original parts", it won't be far from the truth

Never me again shipping directly here.....Customs work me over.
When I ship to my sky box in Mia and then here is works out much cheaper because for what ever reason you don't actually pay the full 25% on the declared value and that is if they used the declared value to start with!

Nothing much. TTPost will send a letter in the mail. Details of charges and collecting point. You take it with you and you go collect.
I usually collect at Bhagan's Drugs in Tru Valu, Trincity Mall.
Once I collected at TTpost Piarco when I shipped to skybox as an experiment.

So your skybox courier wasn't allowed to clear it and deliver to you?

I normally ship direct to my Trinidad residential address. That comes through TTPost.

Once for comparison sake I shipped through skybox via Miami. And yes they cleared and delivered as usual.
