One would think that windies supposed to have a very good side for t20s and 50 overs, given the talent seen from this tournament

"One would think"

Lets see how these players do playing against an international team like Sri Lanka. We should do really well at least considering they are playing on the same ground where all these players had ALOT of recent match practice playing this Super 50 tournament compared to the Sri Lankans who probably don't have any recent match practice.

To let Sri Lanka come and bully us on our own home ground given those advantages we have above has got to be something sort of insanity.

Can someone justify to me why kevin sinclair was even selected for this team much less playing?

Diidnt you look at the 50 overs regional competition...he played for guyana and was very ineffective and unimpressive...
I have no idea how he made it to selection when there are so much better available...
Namely kharry pierre hayden walsh etc

Also mc coy seem.ok but i have no idea how he got selected as well....

Coulda be a boss team but still seems lacking ...

SL 131-8, 132 runs for WI to win. A small total but WI have to be careful still considering the slow bowling seems to be difficult to put away and SL have bowlers like that in spades. We are ranked #10 after all and SL ranked #7.

This right here is why WI is shite in International cricket. Our bowling in the Super 50 is utter garbage if these same batsmen were able to beat them up soo easily.

Gayle with his wicket started the slide after Lewis got out. Heymeyer needs to return and take Gayle's place, he's keeping a youngster out of the team.

A win is a win but I didn't enjoy it with the way WI went about winning it.

apart from losing a couple extra wickets,
they restricted the team for 130 and then they won the game in 13 overs...a@10 an over
what's not to enjoy with that?

Only two persons missing from that side is Hetmyer and Russell(once fit and able). World cup is in october, windies need to defend that title!!!!! They have the players to do so

Nope....only looked at most of Guyana's reply in the final. Apart from that didn't really follow that competition and only knew what was going on from this thread.

Clearly there has to be a different fitness test for the ODI/T2O squad than there is for the test squad. There is no way Big Rak passes any fitness test that Hetmeyer can't pass.

^ If that's the case then the fitness test for the tests should be more stringent considering these players have to last much longer in the field than in a T20 or ODI.

Btw, I saw the fitness test leaked on another site, not sure if it's accurate or not but it seems way too easy for a WI player or someone who is a sportsman to pass.

1. Fifteen Jumping Jacks
2. 15 touch toes with legs straight or
25 with legs bent.
3. 10 pushups, 20 if on knees
4. Run two hundred yards in 35 seconds
5. 10 situps
6. Cooler Crawl - Pull cooler with 12
bottles of beverages and three bags
of ice for 60 yards in 1 minute.

What manner of 1940s tests are those??
India's fitness tests -
The BCCI has introduced mandatory 2-km time trials to measure speed and endurance levels in its training programme for Team Indian players.
According to the new norm, the benchmark for fast bowlers will be 8 minutes and 15 seconds.
For batsmen, wicket-keepers, and spinners, the standard will be 8 minutes and 30 seconds.

Elite athletes are expected to complete 2 km in around 6 minutes, and amateurs in 15 minutes.

It will be a key criterion in selection for the T20 World Cup later this year.

They also use a yo-yo/beep test
The yo-yo test involves shuttling over a 20-metre distance at increasing speeds

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/new- ... un-1251503
The passmark is 17:1

Narine won't ever play for West Indies again for obvious reasons. He don't want to get called for his action in the international arena which might affect him keeping his IPL contract trying to correct his action. The IPL is in a few months time.

But IPL called him for throwing already.
