Besides Pollard, gayle and pooran, the WI players were disappointing.

Apart from pooran there aren’t many next generation wi players
Which is a reflection of over a decade of poor board management in development in the region

Sad reality but might true when talking about next generation, but i have hope, WI has always produced good cricketing talent, maybe 2021 cpl might be a better showing.

there will still be players who will self develop themselves
the attraction of t20 is more than enough for players to work on their own

but as it is the only international exposure is cpl and it will take a player at least 2-3 years for international teams to take notice.

From a purely business standpoint it makes no sense for the WICB to spend big money and develop players only for them to turn down retainer contracts most of their playing life.

On a related note why it doesn't surprise me the team who would most likely break bubble barriers first would be WI.

The West Indies squad has been barred from training for the rest of their managed isolation period in Christchurch after breaking protocols. This includes sharing food and socialising in hallways of their government-approved hotel.

The situation has arisen because players from the two separate bubbles of 20 people, which are allowed to train separately, have mixed. This "compromised the bubble integrity of the quarantine facility."

Jof was one guy who made a bad decision
WI was multiple people exhibiting poor judgement.

And if we nitpicking, under regular eligibility requirements Archer would still only be eligible for playing for West Indies right now but England adjusted it specifically for him. Bruv probably still have island mentality

That is licks share there. NZ amass 238-3. The bulk of the damage was Conway and Phillips, two South African born New Zealanders.

That quota system mashing up the Proteas bad bad.

Australia have a real bomb squad, ALL batters contributing!
WI on the other hand, well that was real licks, we need some better bowlers...

Our fielding and bowling have been disappointing thus far, we should have won the first game. With the decider happening in the am.

Get used to it. It will only get worse in the tests.

That bowling line up not going to have a happy time against Williamson and co.

Say it isn't so :crying:
I would like to think our Test bowling line up is better than our T20's
Surely it cant be any worse!

NZ 243-2 on a rain hit day 1 of the Test. Williamson 97n.o. going into day 2 and Taylor with him in the 30s.
I tell you WI will be lucky to come away from this test series even drawing a match.

Much better WI sides have gone to NZ and struggled and this is quite possibly the best NZ ever and well we know where WI are.

edit* Just saw that Williamson is a monster at that ground his last 6 test innings there excluding this current one - 176, 43, 54, 200*, 4, 104*.

WI 49-0 with NZ amassing 519-7d.
Lets see what they can do on day 3.
Williamson doing Williamson things by making big runs against WI and making big runs at Seedon Park.

Meanwhile didn't realize the WI A and NZ A teams simultaneously playing an A Team test. Pooran is playing his first competitive red ball match in something like 6 years.

He's not keeping in the match. He actually took a wicket in his one over he bowled.
NZ A piling on the runs btw......322-3 with WI A having been bowled out for 323 in the 1st innings.

New Zealand might also be the next England wrt to a squad of non native New Zealand players.
The A Team squad has South African born Glenn Phillips, Indian Born Ish Sodhi and an English born player as well as Mark Chapman who has played T20s and ODIs for Hong Kong. And when you consider other players - Neil Wagner, Devon Conway, BJ Watling, Colin Munro were all born and grew up in South Africa for parts of their lives and Colin de Grandhomme is Zimbabwean born.

Maybe WI need to do like USA and hire a company to source foreign talent. USA cricket is aggressively seeking out foreign players who can qualify to play for them and help them get ODI status and Corey Anderson already on the list as has been living in Texas. But I mean everybody wants to live in the US but what would make a South African come Trinidad or Jamaica to live for 3 years?
