Hi anyone here plants on a medium to large scale? 2 acres plus. Do you guys manage to sell most or all of what you produce?

Do persons/companies buy large scale produce from you guys?

Is larceny a common occurrence? Or a once a year kinda thing.

Advice for a new farmer is 2 800 gallon tank plus a Wasa connection good enough for a 2 acres plot?

Started planting on my land cause no work, and nothing to do during lockdown. But I'm wondering if this produce will actually sell? Or am I just wasting my time.

It all comes down on timing and some luck
Right now nothing aint really expensive
But as rainy season starts believe it or not

Based on how regular you get water from wasa and the type of crop you growing you may push out 1600 gals easy

Call namdevco and find out the procedure to go in macoya and wholesale your produce

What u planting though?

Planting corn tomatoes and dasheen atm. Started out small as I learn with 2 lots. But got 2 acres of land space available.

Was thinking of approaching super markets and make some kind of a business arrangement to supply produce. Is this advisable? Personal preference is to have someone sell the produce that I grow.

most of those big chain supermarkets already have their suppliers
unless you producing a crop year round to supply them...but they wont take from someone who supplies based on the lifespan of your crop...( when your tomatoes finish bearing, you wont have until the next crop starts bearing) if u know what i mean

i have a partner who buys a couple 1000 corn to sell on the highway...when you ready to sell i can ask him

All of them have long standing arrangements .
People who always supply. One of my padnas father supplying hilo with pumpkin 40 years now. You might easier get through if you approach people in the market to buy from you and it's not difficult to go to the wholesale market yourself in the night and sell.

That looks like tick clover to my eyes. It's in the desmodium family (tick trefoil) which means that it is tolerant of 2,4-D. You will need to apply 2,4-D more often and use more nitrogen on your lawn. Pull it when you can because it is very unlikely that you will rid a zoysia lawn of it.

Prowl is a pre-emergent herbicide that is available locally that has worked for me. It will slow down trefoil and prevent many weeds from germinating if you apply it now. It's about $200/liter.

Thanks.

I got recommendation s of using Basagran, ronstar and 24d in one mix, or use actril instead of the 24d.

What you think about that?

Ronstar is a pre-emergent. Actril is 2,4-D with ioxynil as a pre-emergent. Basagran controls sedges.

I am all for using a mix of herbicides to enhance efficacy but that seems like overlap. I also vary the chemicals use to reduce herbicide resistance.

That said, there are few replacements for using a low concentration herbicide, spot-treated, applied at frequent intervals with extra nitrogen to aid in herbicide uptake and the turf's recovery.

It can be a lot of work if your lawn is large (1/2 acre or larger) but can be easily managed if your lawn is 5000 sq ft or less.

Just sharing an idea I came up with using ONE wooden pallet. A 3-tier plant shelf.
Pallet $25
Spray paint $20
Set of 4 castors $24
One coat of varnish applied.

Anybody know where I could get a spiral auger bit that would fit in a drill locally? Looking for something to dig holes at least 6" diameter but bigger would be good too, with as long a shaft as possible.

EDIT
Looks like this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RS ... ZTC5&psc=1

EDIT
never mind, ordered a few different sizes off amazon

that thing amazing

no more pumping

came with a whole bunch of spray heads
one of the heads even spraying up to 30 feet
as well as a 15 foot hose so say you wanna spray bleach/water solution on your roof, you can leave the machine on the ground and go climb the ladder with the hose/trigger and spray

Can you give a follow up review on this bro? Looking to get one myself.

if you already have a backpack sprayer you can convert it.
All you need is a 12v pump (cost about USD$15) some additional hose (about a foot 18 inches or so ) a small 12v battery from a ups (free if you can find it, about TTD $120 if you buy it) a switch ($6-10 in any hardware) & maybe a foot of speaker wire.
I converted mine awhile ago, it real easy & working like a champ.

Yeah that sounds good. I see most on Amazon using basically the same setup you described. The lead acid battery adds some weight. The lighter ones using li-ion batteries but a bit more expensive.

I don't own a backpack sprayer. The lazy man electric sprayer is appealing. lol

still have it, still working amazing

i does charge it once every 2 or 3 months

very easy to spray heights and long distances with it

like i could stand in the middle of a 60 feet long building and spray 15-20 feet high end to end.
does actually hadda do that alot by my store, because the neighbours vines keep coming across and climbing up the walls

absolutely one of the best purchases ive made
