Good stuff.

Veryyy handy info indeed, thanks for that. Saved it one time. If it were my laptop, I'd give it a go but as it's my brother's and he needs the battery anyway, I won't chance it. My desktop however, has passed through some "trials and errors" so to speak lol.

as HCCA said try to get laptop batteries with the most positive reviews - and of course warranty and exchanges if need be.

also if you plan on changing your operating system from win 7 to 10 please do your BIOS update first - then change your O.S.

Overclocking gives older tech a Lil edge. I still messing with a fm2 . Hcca did mines for me. Was at 4.2 hz. Dropped to 4.0 now. But my issue was I got a random shutoff.. Super stable at 4.0.

I had to look up the term cause I'm not used to it.

60% keyboard

Nope... Haven't used any
I have a full size G710+ mechanical keyboard ; the numpad helps with work.

I don't really game on my keyboard these days.

I had a 10keyless corsair board and recently sold it to try a 60%...there were 2 brands that were standing out to me and was getting the best reviews... Anne Pro 2 and another one called a ducky one 2 mini... Ordered the Anne pro

Interested to see how it feels for gaming as I've heard 60% are the ultimate kbs for gaming these days

If it still works then there's a chance you can use it on another pc or an external enclosure.
You should also swap sata or ide cables as well to eliminate that issue.
Check to see if it still spins (touch the drive case and feel for a vibration) or make any audible noises like grinding or a sort of scratching sound?

is the drive receiving power ? put hand on the drive while powered on to see if its spinning up - you'll feel slight vibrations even though its mounted securely.

check sata cable... replace and try again.

is the drive listed in my computer?
if not proceed to control panel then double click on administrative tools then double click on computer management then a applet will open up - on the left side under storage click it once and on the right side will populate the hard drive info .

is the drive listed there ???

if the drive is listed there you may need to get a hard drive docking station (with UASP support) and some file recovery software and start.

if interested pm me.

tired hear ppl praise those 3rd gen ryzens as god's gift to the pc race...bout they just murdered intel  much is left to be proven still....real world benchmarks havent even been revealed yet...intel has proved their existing products outperforms previous ryzen gens which also had beefier specs on paper...have ppl forgotten about that?

not defending...family dont have any part ownership in the company so why would i?

just saying...if the company has set the bar high...then its only fair that people acknowledge it...rather than trying to deny and claim that a product that was just announced some days ago murdered what already exists when no one has had the oppurtunity to fully use the thing to see what its capable and incapable of in a real world situation....thats all sir

Ryzen 3rd gen might not be god's gift to the pc race but I'd argue that Ryzen 1st was. It brought high core with decent single core performance to mainstream. At the time it was released, you were looking to pay ~1k for 8 core chip and ~500 for 6 core Intel chip. Ryzen 5 and 7 slashed those prices in half. Later that year, Intel was planning to release updates to the HEDT platform, topping at 10 core but with the launch of Threadripper, they bumped it to a 18core. Nine months after they release the 7700k, that same year, we had a paper launch of the 8th generation bumping the core count by 2. I emphasize paper launch since the 8700k was hardly available until the following year. The price was also within usual 4c/8t prices. There is no doubt that Ryzen brought competition back to the cpu market, which is beneficial for the consumer.

Now, regarding performance of intel vs amd, it is no secret that intel had strong single core performance so if you looked at applications biased towards single core, games is a good example, the intel chip no doubt was a superior product. What amd had going for it was value and multicore performance and if you looked at applications that scale well with core counts, blender for example, the ryzen 7 1700 outperformed the 7700k.

That said, the 3rd generation is an interesting one. For the last 2 generations, AMD was always behind in single core synthetic benchmarks (Cinebench) but ahead in multicore (exception vs 9900k). Now, it is slightly faster or matches the 9900k which has a single core turbo of 5.0ghz so it will be interesting to see how well that translate to real world applications. I predict that the 9900k will still be faster in gaming but having extra 4 cores will compensate - for me atleast.

^^^very well said...and i agree with you...ryzen 1st gen was the game changer. its fun to see 2 leading companies go at it like this cuz it ultimately benefits the consumer. no more lazy half baked updates or revisions to their product line. more innovation and revolutionary thinking = better overall product for our dollars.

i bought an 8700k even tho the 9700k was already out cuz i cant support that move intel made their with their i7 series...remove 4 threads and add 2 cores and thats your latest and greatest i7? nawwww...thats bs
