I'd much rather get a 1440p, IPS, 144 Hz monitor with GSYNC for that money.

VR will have to wait on me just a little bit longer.

Oculus also needs 4 usb ports. (3 USB 3.0 and 1 2.0)

I feel StarVR might be the better flick but in any case I waiting on the next set of amd/nvidia gpus to come out first.

Tbh once you use a rift nothing will compare.
I've had the dk2 since June and I just can't bring myself to play games on a tv again.
Also the rift is the center point of a business project of mine so I consider it an investment.
I had hoped the new one would be 400 like they had hinted all along but it isn't so just have to cough up the extra.

I tried different vga cables same thing and different monitors
/displays.

Same problem..

Is the card worth anything anymore?

could be bad solder on the gpu to the jacks. Power it back up and see if the jack moves if u wiggle it a bit. If it does, does the video output change?

Only flaw, if u think of It as a flaw, is that the vram is maxed out and would be maxed out by maxed out present and future games. Not a big issue @1080p and I sure it would afford a good gaming experience for th next 4 years.

Sooo I drained my loop about 2 weeks ago as I was preparing for two fittings shown below to make a direct connection between the two waterblocks also to fill it up with distilled water as it had bottled water in it before.

Image

However when taking out the fittings, some residual water seeped out of the rad through the tube existing there before and some spilled on the board...I had already lined it with tissue etc prior to disconnecting everything but it got damp...some of the water dripped on the board as well...managed to dry it up and now I have it under a lamp and a fan drying...how long should I leave it there before I can power it up...PC hasn't came on since December so caps etc were completely discharged.

Image

Where i'm draining from.

Drained from underneath the tap from one of the ports underneath the rad

Leave it a couple hours and then try and clean up the area with some methylated spirits, wait a few minutes and then power on.

Once that had happened to me and i use a heat gun to dry the board after i wiped it up with paper towels, worked fine afterwards (distilled water spill).

Nice I still have it under the lamp from about 5 this evening...how did you apply the spirit?..with normal paper towels??

Blew out the board a while ago with some compressed air as well

Used cotton balls. Was just to clean off any previous dirt and contaminants that woulda have been stuck down by the liquid.

a small spill like that for a system that has been powered off for more than 1 week is fine..

that amount of water, which is just damp as you said, is not enough to damage anything even if it was on.

i would not worry at all, but i would see if i can pour some spirits on it and let it conventionally dry itself off.

having it under a lamp for hours wont do anything really.

Cotton swabs would work. I work in an IT environment, and we have ALLLLLL kinds of tools n such. So I would say use a spirits squirter, but I doubt u would have that. So a regular cotton swab will work

I would give it a try tomorrow please God and see. Used the spirits today and wiped up any watermarks I found. What was the purpose of removing them though??

To prevent corrosion or do they conduct as well??
