Polk is very decent stuff. You should not be disappointed. Was space an issue hence going with a soundbar?

More laziness and not wanting to run wires for the speakers on a surround sound . It's a brand new 2 story building and construction on hold until corona is over. Using downstairs to lime. Dont have any outside walls right now. So dont want to go through hotgluing speaker wires and then have to do it over again when the walls go up. As the present location of the tv is just temporary

Just remember that many receivers quote their power rating with one or two channels driven. So if you see a 7.1 receiver quoting 95W per channel, that means that 7 channels are capable of outputting 95W but the max of 95W is only available on one or two driven channels at any point. You'll typically get far less per channel if all 7 are driven in the case of multi channel stereo, for example. For HT, it may not be as big a deal as typically you do not need all that power on the 7 channels as movie soundtracks are mixed with most sound from center channel and the rest there for effects.

All that to say is that while your speakers are 110W rated, buying a 7 channel 110W receiver will not give you 770W of power. You'd probably get closer to 20-40 Watts at any time. The extra power is for headroom for short bursts.

what's your budget?

Duane, between 2k - 3k...

for TT$2000 to TT$3000 that gonna be tough for a 7.1 to match your speakers unless you buy it used

There's this Sony STR-DH790 7.2-ch on Amazon for US$278.00
https://www.amazon.com/Sony-STR-DH790-7 ... 079YW5VQL/

Or this refurbished Yamaha TSR-7810 7.2 ch 4K with Atmos for US$361.44
https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-TSR-7810- ... 07TM13RTP/

You will get 5.1 for cheaper, but then you end up with 2 unused speakers in your setup

Duane, will prefer to buy something new than refurbished, I was actually looking at the Sony you suggested, will this match my speakers/drive them properly? Also, can you suggest some more options? I just want to make sure I buy a proper av receiver that isn't underpowering my satellites/sub...

Info from behind satellites - 110W / 8ohms

Info from behind sub - 163W

You????? Lol.

The soundbar life isn't bad actually.
I have one of the big Yamaha units that came with the upscale and upconverting features before HD tv. Has a radio as well which I wanted. Many inputs and a single out to the TV. The gimmicky signal bouncing around the room to simulate the 5.1 surround by firing one of the gazillion speakers inside the unit works ok, your ear might hear it better than mine but it is there.
Have it paired with an Andrew Jones Pioneer sub which works amazingly well with it. One nice feature with this sub is that it can stay on all the time and has signal input sensing so it turns on when a signal is present.

The only downfall is the footprint but where it is it doesn't bother me and the sub is hidden.

On FB there is a set for 22k
Denon receiver and Klipsch all around
Towers, center, sub and back

Maria Elena Agostini on FB
It looks impressive. She’s not separating sale. I’m interested in sub so if any one willing to buy parts.

That price waaay too high bro...

The speakers retail new for about $14K
The Receiver is the S line and not the X line... say $3500 new
and the Sub is about $4k

Can't understand how the packaged price is $22K for a 3 year used

Anyone has recommendations of how to get dust out of those devices like the onkyo ? They have a lot of ventilation ports but I opened the bad one and there was quite a bit of dust in it

Hey guys, I have a set of speakers laying around so was thinking to DIY a set of bookshelf speakers to listen while I work.

My harman AVR 1610 put out power at 6-8 ohms but the speakers I have are 4 ohms. How big of an issue will this be?

It would not do any harm if its just the front channels. I have 4 Ohm running on the center channel and my receiver also says 6 Ohm min. No probs... Some receivers have a setting to change speaker impedance also.

Yes, the front channel's only.

Have a set of Exodus anarchy laying around so I have decided to use them for something constructive. Emailed Erich from Diycable and he recommended about 0.35 cubic feet for em so maybe if I get some spare time this weekend its a project I may undertake.

Ended up picking up a used TX-NR801 before I saw your post. Speaker impedance adjustable down to 4ohms....

I have a set of morel elates 8 ohm but didn't have 8 ohm tweeter to use with the passives so I decided on the exodus.

I haven't heard any bookshelf that impress me so I decided to DIY. Had my eyes on the Klipsch RP-600M but never met a set for a demo so I said leme use what I know I like.

Impedence rise will also help those 4ohm speakers so it won't be an issue

Looking for a decent budget/mid ranger TV in the 43" size
Saw Pricesmart have the Samsung TU8000 series and the LG UN7300 series (both 2020 models) with a $400 difference b't both
The LG is newer than the Samsung so haven't seen any reviews online or youtube for it whereas there are numerous reviews for the Samsung. [Rtings has reviews up to the LG UM series]

Anyone bought any of these for a local perspective?

Was thinking of a small project with these for some easy listening, so bought this off Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Amplifier-Blueto ... ords=mo+gu

Image

Came nicely packaged with a 1/8" headphone jack to two RCA male and a 1/8" to 1/8" plus a 5A powersupply.

Nice little case, really REALLY small, nice binding posts.

The idea is to stream from my phone or ipad using BT or the wired connection sometimes and use the old speakers for some backgroun muzakk. Already have a decent HT and a small stereo in the kitchen, so not sure where it will go yet.

Stay tuned, I'll hook it up and give it a review.

3 years later technology is more advanced. Power is cheap, I am seeing a lot of small chip amps popping up:

https://www.amazon.com/DAMGOO-Subwoofer ... 0CESJTXM6H

https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Amplif ... cs&sr=1-11

anyone ever eff around with these stuff?
