Because ARM CPUs will require software to be written to take advantage of them. Remember they have reduced instruction set so performance under some sort of emulation will suck.

Also there are lots of rumours that it's mainly the MacBook air will be the first ARM models and the MacBook line might still be x86 for at least 2021.

they will be supporting the intel ecosystem for a while
apps will need to be ported for new chipset
I have a MPB13 on the way and not too worried about it.

If you wanna hold strain a next year for the ARM, that's a safe play too

I’ve heard too many disappointing snippets about ARM over the last few days - intel is certainly a much safer play plus I heard a few Apple Senior Execs day that the current intel macs will be supported for “A long long time”, so I’ll go with current fleet

Get the i9 8core. ARM macbooks won't offer pro level performance until maybe 2 years down the road and even then that might only be in Apple Apps. The i9 is a beast and in many benchmarks performs almost as fast as the new AMD super beast the Ryzen 4900.

Are you going 16gb or 32gb?

Totally agree with you and I’m looking at 32GB

I stuck with 16G ram, but I went to the best processor on the 13.
I really need it for some complex math modelling for my research. My 2013 MBP does quite a good job, but it's pretty much EOL and I'll give it to the wifey. Still get about 3 hours of video play on the battery which is stellar on a 6+ year old laptop. 5 years is a good upgrade cycle for me, with apple. My last couple Dells used to last about 18months before the battery life tanked.

Saw these on one of the forums:

Apple Event Leaks for Oct online show:

New Macbook 12" - to replace Macbook Air
13" Mackbook Pro with A14X. Seems the highend Macbook Pros ($1899 and above) will remain Intel
Iphone 12

Unconfirmed but there were mentions of it:
New design 24" iMac
New 14" Macbook Pro for next year

Anyone know if either Digicel or Bmobile are able to finally activate any e-sims? Really would like to stop carrying around two phones all the time.

Expect a little battery drain as IOS builds the index of files, apps etc.
After that it will settle down

Updated yesterday no major difference in performance (positive or negative)

Like that incoming calls don’t take up entire screen (long overdue)
Also like that you can actually hide the hidden photos folder
Not accustomed to new Apple Music layout, feels confusing for now.

Seeing Apple website saying that the blood oxygen reading on Series 6 is available in T&T.

However, anyone knows if I already have ECG and Irregular Rhythm notifications set up on a Series 5 (done while in the US last year) will work if a Series 6 is set up with my AppleID now while in T&T?

Or would those features be blocked and need to be set up again while in one of the valid countries?

ECG will be blocked as they look at the active mobile network
I tried using a T-Mobile sim but it didn’t work as the roaming network was Digicel.
I’m in no rush to head to the US to activate it there.
