it depends on how the car is configured
If you have auto start / stop, chances are the car has an AGM (absorbent gas mat) deep cycle battery
If you put in a lead acid battery, you will have to go into the ecu via maintenance software and tell the car you changed to lead-acid when you register the battery. You won't get the same service life as you would with an AGM battery though
If the car currently has a lead-acid battery, you just need to register the new one.
I bought a stinger AGM for my 2009 R56 last year. No issues whatsoever
Regardless of what battery you choose, you will need to register the battery with the ECU so the car knows it has a new battery. Failure to do so will potentially lead to overcharging, as the car will think it's charging a dying battery
In all my euros, including a 2013 Focus and my previous R50 Cooper, I used batteries from Price Smart with zero issues

Keep in mind, because it's not AGM, the alternator will run differently
With AGM, the alternator basically does nothing until the charge dips to a pre-determined point. At that point, the alternator will kick in and recharge it. You can't do that type of drain and charge with lead acid, so the alternator will basically be 'on' and charging all the time...puts a bit more load on the alternator when you run lead-acid
The stinger battery was about $1,100 which to me was wasn't bad

Do you know anyone that can do the battery registration?
