Suzuki Worries

Postby V2NR 3.0 » April 14th, 2006, 11:33 pm

Oye,

I need some good solid mechanical advice. I have a Suzuki Jimny with an original 1000 cc engine. However, I think the engine is F---- up. I wish to replace it, BUT, still maintain the 4x4 system.

Any ideas on what engine could be used in this application?....

Uncle,

I was told that with the 12o Y engine i would lose my 4x4 drive. This would be useless, since thats the reason why i purchased the vehicle in the firt place. The 1.6 grand vitara engine is great, but the $$$ is alot and comes with the complications of the computer brain and so on. Its very difficult to get the Vitara engine and the associated brain in one. I have tried.

The mechanic in Couva, Shane, is well known. However, I prefer not to do business there.

1. Any other suggestions on engines, which would enable me to keep my 4x4 system? ( a mechanic in Debe told me the Toyota Corolla engine would work fine )

2. Any good Zuk mechanics you know about?

3. Sorry bro, i dont have any parts. However, I am in the TTORC - send me ezactly what you are looking for and i can bounce it off my colleagues.

You are proabably wondering "if the guy in the off road club...why he asking for assistance on the outsed?".

Pappy is a real cut throat vibes

I dunno about these things but what about the SR20 4WD engines? Tight Fit though or maybe the Toyota Corolla 4wd or the b14 GA15 4wd

I have actually heard about a SR20 being installed on these little Suzuki Jeeps. One thins i can say is that the torque will be to much for the diffs. Breakage is very likely to occur.

yes the G13B SOHC is the common replacement for the 100CC ,if you cant afford the G16A 16valve.Dont worry about fellas and installing SR20'S

Here are preferable engine choices for the Samurai,Jimny,Sierra

Suzuki G13B DOHC,G13B SOHC,G16A SOHC
VW 1.6 turbo diesel
Mazda 13B Rotary

All of these engines use the stock transmission with the help of an adapter plate and 4WD can be used. For high torque applications you will need HD transfer case mounts, engine mounts, beefier axles and t-case gears. Also these engines can easily be modified with the correct aftermarket part.

By the way there's a Suzuki thread for all Suzuki stuff :D

Guys, the wifey has a Samurai and it is doing a weird thing. It hard starts, hot or cold and we had to turn up the idle screw to get it to idle in traffic. If we turn it down the idle 'hunts'. When it is up it still hunts but is not as noticeable, like from 1200-1400 every two seconds or so.

Right, so we have a haynes manual and did the following so far

Changed the fuel filter
Changed all vacuum hoses
changed rubber gas lines
did a fuel pump test, (Cranked the engine with the pump disconnected and it was fine)

So we suspect a vacuum leak somewhere around the carb, any idea what could be causnign this problem specifically?

Thanks guys.

Anybody have a number for Shane ? I am looking for a complete engine and transmission with brain box and harness. 1300 or 1600 direct bolt up preferably.
