Timing belt

Postby Skynet » February 25th, 2016, 5:40 pm

Guys i really need some help.I have a ck2 lancer with a 4g15 injected engine.I was coming home today when the car just cut off.I towed it to the garage but as it was late they didn't start to see what was wrong.Someone there told me that it could be the timing belt burst and the valves are bent.In a worse case scenario what would be my options on getting the car back working. All advice would be appreciated..thanks...

if timing belt burst, the worst thing you can do is crank it over.... that just ensures the destruction of more stuff.

When the belt bursts you tend to hear an audible snap or pop... almost like a tyre popping then the car immediately dies. If the car lost power steadily before it died then it may be something else... possibly distributor coil or crank sensor etc...

hope it's something minor though.
