Thanks all for the feedback. Please let me know if you guys come across any.

My only concern with NA v6 engines is availability of parts when stuff goes bad, seeing that they are already so hard to find.

Go back an use another fresh GDI engine an take better care of it. Don't treat it like a EFI engine that's all. You will get more power an better fuel economy .

Block the EGR an don't waste money on injector cleaners. An Keep a spare set of injectors an have them serviced so when you are ready to service the engine all you have to do is swap. An the dirty set u just removed take it to be cleaned.

Use engine restorer to keep the lifters silent.

Who cleans the GDI injectors and is the process different from how some.mechanics just remove and spray them with a cleaner?
I've also been told that the pressurized type of injector servicing (with cannister of cleaning solution hooked up to compressor) doesn't work with the GDI system. How true is that?

Yeah that system It wills actually remove the internal build up of varnish inside the injector. But it won't clean the nasty carbon build up from around the nozzle. But once you block the EGR carbon hardly builds up. So you won't have to remove them so often to physically clean them maybe once every 9-12 months or when ever u feel stutters returning.

Places that do work on CRD injection diesel injectors will work on GDI. Basically they are the same injectors

Update on this.

Had to use the bracket below for the deck to line up properly.

Fellas, I'm planning on changing my engine and transmission soon. Going back with a 4G93 GDI since I haven't been able to locate a 6A12/6A13 non turbo (If anyone can point me in the direction of one I would be grateful).

I'm thinking of making a DIY project if it's the GDI since it should be a fairly straight job, correct? Just bolt out old engine and tranny and bolt up new?

I have a few questions though, hoping the knowledgeable ones can help me;

1. Where are the engine and transmission ECUs located in the dash and how do I access them? Do I unplug the harness and pull it through the firewall and replace in opposite order? I plan to change both ECUs and harness.

2. Where and how do I locate the EGR valve on the engine? I plan to blank it off with a pirce of flat galvanize sheeting during installation.

3. Which GDI fuel pump is the newer model, green sticker or blue sticker?

Thanks

I'll take a pic of where the ecu are.
Egr is right under the intake manifold. Look for the metal hose going to the intake under the tb.
Blue sticker pumps are the newer one.

Btw hyperfas will have a 6a coming in at the end of the month. 15k complete.

Control modules are behind the center behind ac controls, remove the side trim to expose them

Apart from the ECU, are there any other connections to do when changing the harness? Or is it just plug and play business, straight from engine to ECU?

Wanted to do a complete change engine, ecu, etc just to avoid any problems. Getting complete 4G93 GDI engine and transmission for $7000. Both auto and manual.

What are your guys thoughts on cross breeding though? Could get a full Nissan conversion done for same cost.

Anyone know if the rear suspension of the shark mouth galant has alignment options? I'm getting some tire wear issues and was advised that it can be bushings or alignment. Changed the bushings, but wanna make sure the alignment can actually be a factor.

I have the rear setup without the sway bar if that affects anything.

If tyre cutting on the inside, camber is off.
Normal if you're running much bigger rims / tyres or bad suspension parts.
Camber cannot be adjusted unless you install a camber kit.

Hey after doing a little research, realised there are eccentric bolts on the control arm with the ball joint that controls the rear toe. The left side of my car and the right don't match. I'm thinking this may have been the cause. Funny that whenver I did alignments, the guys never noticed to check the rear toe or adjust it :s. Gonna go for an alignment tmr and see what happens.

Wait you didn't go for an alignment check?
Would be the first thing to do if you're getting uneven tyre wear.

Na I had done a suspension check and was told there were a few bad bushings. Figure that would be the culprit as I assumed the back suspension didn't have any adjustment and well in the all the alignments I did in the past nobody ever touched the back. Bad call on my part.
