Help Needed.. Aqua Hybrid Vibration/Shaking

Postby pesh » January 25th, 2020, 11:24 am

Good Day,

Wanted to know if anyone ever experienced a really rough shaking/vibration when the hybrid battery is low and the car idles up on and off... Kind of hard to explain. If anyone can understand what I'm asking & had this issue rectified, please advise me. Thank you.

Try cleaning erg cooler and valve assy.
When this is required vehicle would experience a very rough engine start-up or when kicking in from electric drive mode.
You may seriously consider spark plug replacement as part of this intervention.

where is this located?

Left side of engine going into rear of engine.
To properly access the cooler and egr valve the rear cowl panel may need to be removed.
This is the exhaust gas recirculation system which allows exhaust emission return to intake of engine and when clogged causes rough and sometimes erratic ignition.

Cleaning the EGR and the intake manifold will help. Luckily it's a Toyota so the manifold is easy to get to. It's probably gunked up. You can try to clean the throttle body and plugs also. The engine is similar to the early gen Prius and Prius c models from the USA. Just search for the videos on YouTube.
