I'm pretty sure his gain knob is functional.
SNR woes is a non-issue once install is done right.

This is the reason i got the line driver . Now seeing some of you think i shouldnt use it and SR saying i should( more advice on if i should use it or not? My aim is to get good sound quality as the car is use for daily driving. looking to do an oem style build in the car so everything looks factory.

I listen to different types of music , alternative ,soca, rap etc, in different formats ( 320kbps mp3 , itunes and original cds)
glass it always up when listening and very rear will i turn up when glass is down( only when i going beach or something.

crossover thoughts - front 80hz @ 12 db slope
- rear 100hz @ 12db slope
- sub 80hz down @ 18db slope

planning to use a ported box tuned to 35hz or 38hz on the sub ( more thoughts on this or should i go higher?

To be honest i would ditch both the ms8 and zapco and get a better dsp with better line drive. If that option isnt available then use both. However it will still be fine withiut the line driver.

Ditch the head unit, processor and linedriver and get something that does it all. Simplify the system, I know about rca failing and making you scrap 60 percent of the system to figure out the odd static, popping ect.

I guess a good installer is key

i mean you wont hear any noticeable difference with or without the line driver but imo its a big unit and will cut down and space, weight and wiring for your install if you omit it.
The MS8 is fine if you have it already. Any of those new pioneers radios could process this system easily, its fairly simple.

As I always suggest to people, ported box tuning is something that is personal preference based on the type of music you listen too. If in question, the recommended enclosure in the manual is good staring point. The manufacrurer's recommendation is always a good balance of bandwidth and amplitude.

If you have it already, I say use it.
No big issue in using or not using the line driver. If space permits and you feel like using it, by all means, go right ahead. You can get by without it though. Dont make it an issue man.
Wrt sub, 25 to 28hz is usually my liking for daily. But if you have an aftermarket exhaust that noisy you wont hear much in that zone. Speaking from experience. 35hz is all well and good. If you feel like you need a bit more omph, then maybe rebuild and tune lower.
Install takes time, run with what you have for now. Can add some minimal sound proofing on the doors to help reinforce the metal. Dont wanna add too much weight in a machine like yours.

Front doors and trunk has dynamat superlite on it.liked the morel sub cause I heard it in a evo 9 and the sub isn't all that heavy (10lbs I think). I still have a pair of jbl gto 8s as well so also was thinking if to use those and was wondering if the amp would play them comfortably seeing that the sub power off the amp is 300rms.

Id say go for cone area since power is an issue. but 1 10" and 2 8" are roughly same.
Have the same amplifier, had it on a 10", its ok for what it is.

the JL calls for a much smaller enclosure as far as manual goes.

what was the sub impedance you used if you dont mind me asking? Dual 4 ,dual 2 or single 4ohm?
saw the sub channel on the amp is rated @ 300 rms At 2ohm and 4ohm. so was wondering which would be better to use?

This does not matter in your case! The power amp has a constant rating for 2-4ohm loads, you wont hear any noticeable difference . I'd say stick with the higher single 4ohm sub and have better damping factor.

I thought 2x8" cone area is actually closer to 1 x 12"? Or was I wrong?

hey guys pics coming this week. install had to be delayed abit due to engine upgrades and funds being low. lol.
question though , since im lookin to reduce weight on the sub box i planned to use an aeroport but wanted to find out would it make sense to use an aeroport of just go in the hardware and buy pvc pipe?

aeroport greatly reduces port noise\turbulence , saves alot of space compared to traditional square\rectangle\slot ports since u dont need as much port area & port length

good 1s not cheap though so if u on a tight budget use normal pvc pipe

imo its worth it though ....

Recently i flared a pair of 3" PVC ports using the heat gun and aluminum bowl method. Came out pretty nice for the price! You'll have to epoxy it to the box however as you wont have a nice mounting flange like store bought ones.

do you experience any kind of over heating from this amp? Tested the amp a few days back to make sure everything is working and during the 15mins worth of playing (gain on quarter) it heated up rather quick. Any thoughts or advice here or is this normal?

Looking at a zapco amp as well - ST - 6x Sq 6 channel and a ST - 105d bt( anyone one here ever used these amps?
any thoughts?

hey, sorry for the late reply.

I used a single coil 4 ohm sub.

Yes It runs hot. I ordered a set of blowers from amazon back then, got 5V DC, not sure if they have 12V now. Used a transformer with an adjustable output to power them.

Luck is on your side. I still using these under my seat on both amps in the new truck. But mines are 5V

When we getting a pic of the ride though, I wanna drool a bit.

I usually opt for bigger subs as smaller ones are limited as to how deep they can dig. But I have heard 8's that are impressive. Case in point, a single 8" Image dynamics in a tuner BT50, very impressive for what it is.

Also curious about this.
So far the little info I have found seems to be that they are very good, but there are not many reviews about them.
