Subwoofer cutting off sometimes

Postby christopherg2 » December 20th, 2016, 5:49 pm

Good day people,
I have an XPRO-10 Soundstream Subwoofer in a 10inch box, 500 watts, 35hz to 500hz and 92db. It uses a separate channel on the 5 channel amp I have which is I think 1500 watts total.
When playing music the sub will play normally and if you go over a bump or sometimes just randomly it will cut out and the rest of the song will be playing on the speakers. Only the sub is cutting out. If I go over another bump it might start back to work for a bit and then stop.

What's the solution to this problem?

In addition, sometimes when I pump the volume up very high when that happens, it sort of jump starts the sub-woofer in a way if that makes any sense.

I'm sure you've checked your speaker wires (sub) and RCA wires (at the amp and deck). I'm sure they're connected properly so that obviously is where the confusion starts. Could be a bad RCA cable or rca terminal. Some RCAs melt over time and a gooey residue deposits on the RCA terminals of your amp and/or deck. Check for that. Clean with quick dry electronic cleaner and a qtip

Check the sub terminals, however, the problem seems to be weak/broken RCA connection. The RCA solder joint on the HU or Amp circuitry can also cause this problem.
