On the specs and on ampguts ,it states that it is 1 ohm stable, but i also tried it on 4 ohm after and it did the same. the sensitivity on the amp was set on 100mV-2V, when i set it on the 2V-8V, i hardly hear any bass, the fan on the board comes on so i dnt know if its a cooling problem

what voltage does the amplifier see?... lower voltage will cause the amp to run a bit warmer and could probably induce thermal protection.

Went and check a music man he tested the voltage across the power terminals and the lowest i read was around 12.5V so he say everything reads good, told me to pass back tomorrow. the funny thing is the amp is cold to touch when it goes into protection mode and about a half hour after it has been off then it feels warm.

switch off the audio system, check the voltage at the batt. disconnect that amp & check the voltage again.

was that amp repaired btw?

Yea I tink the amp was repaired what could cause this problem ,heat? when the car was revved it went about under 14V and when the bass was playing it was around 13 and 12.5 so i think there is proper voltage, I dnt understand how it plays well and then goes into protection after. The speaker also read good since the wire had a resistance of about 4ohm since it was bridged to 4.

is the sub dual 2? dont series them to get 4 ohms, parallel them to get 1 ohm.

thats a lot of voltage fluctuation you getting there with such a small system. I asked if the amp was repaired because I suspect that it may be grounding off & causing it to heat up & have such a huge current draw.

I tried both 1 ohm and 4ohm but the same happens, I'll check the music man tomorrow and find out what he thinks

could be substituted outputs being used on the boss amp that causing the amp to cut off, better you check that amp before any more damage takes place.

the reason why I said parallel those coils is because your amp puts out more power when presented with a 1 ohm load as opposed to a 4 ohm load. as a result you will find yourself turning up the gain in attampt to squeeze more power out of the amp at with a 4 ohm load when all you are doing is adding to the problem by causing the amp to heat up more & add distortion.,.....unless Boss amps now have RIPS technology incorporated in them

Problem solved, It was the fan on the board,my technician told me that the fan had to be the problem without opening it, he said thats this amp weakness, could not find a replacement so he told me take it home and try a little wd-40 on it, it was moving sluggish before but after it started to spin freely so i didn't have the problem again since it was fixed and the amp was ran for more than an hour without tripping. thanks to everyone who tried to help.
