Play around with it, and you'll see the effect.

Didnt want to cloud the other thread so I opened a new one. Anyone care to explain what I should expect to find? I always believed that only physically moving the driver and T/A was benificial to stage height.

I hate crossovers" really because they complicate things when you try to run multiple sources of sound. If any at all I use resistors and caps..however crossover points affect your imaging from what little I know through phasing-you should know you have to deal with mechanical phasing-your polarity and stuff and absolute phasing which correlates to the time phase- the fourth element in design- remember your using multiple sources and they are not a equal distances therefore some signals will arrive earlier than others, using crossover points(filters and your db/oct slopes) you mitigate a phase shift..thus some people like to wire tweets in reverse fire them off axis and **catch azz** finding a compromise to sweeten width and stage height ...if you asked me i'd say 2 source points at equal distance at ear level are the epitome of sound rep as far as I know..so don't lol ^.^

Well i guess i use to use caps and stuff to get crossover points as i used the passive crossovers that i got with my Components. But from using the active system i can control the crossover points and thus the height at which the mid will blend with the tweeter. Now i may be totally wrong. But also TA has alot to do with it as well. I find that the more TA i use on my speakers the better the staging becomes. For instance lets say the greatest TA difference i have is 1.3 milliseconds then i would keep my lowest TA setting as 4 instead of 0. This way the sound seems to push the stage further backward ontop the windshield.

Now the crossover points do their part here as well as they help bring the stage up to a height where it can be pushed back.

Now as i said i may be totally wrong but i am just trying to articulate what i experienced in my car.

Yeah its all phase and time, your experience confirms the basic theory i put forward. Just there is an absolute need for a crossover in an odd environment such as a car with multiple point sources to achieve great imaging, HT is soo much easier :)
