What's the basis of these scores? ie a description of what they were looking for in the tests and how much it was weighted.

subjective testing is based on how the subwoofer sounds when different types of music is played
ie
jazz
rap
rock etc
its based on the response and accuracy of the speaker rather than just how loud it plays or how much power it can handle

SR do you think this is a good measure of sq subs? I aint seeing any adire or focal or orion. And the idmax and w6 come in kinda low, under the alpine. No eclipse either? Strange.

the thing is
i have all the issues and have read all the comments on all subs reviewed

the same test tracks were not used across the board nor were they tested by the same reviewer so each persons opinion would be varied as well as the tes peices used

i read the review on the orion psereis 10" sub and i have 1 in a car locally whcich we reviewed as well suing the some of the same tracks the reviewer used and found the results to be different

remember this is not the bottom line in choosing your sub
it can be used as a guide line
its always best to listen to what you are buying before you buy

i recommend taking a listen to smurf's car as a demo on an overall system within budget
sub used was not even mentioned and is within the 100-150us price range

always trust your ears and not only what someone else tells you if someone makes a recomendation keep it in mind but dont use it as gospel

depends on which writer is available at the time remember this spans reviews for 11 months

the other side of the coin is that you dont want to use the same reviewer all the time to eliminate possibilities of biasness

The Phoenix gold RSD Line was recently introduced after the company was "bought" over

The subs arent available locally..

but the new model component sets, coaxials and 6x9's are available and they provide excellent bang for the buck..

6 1/2 " comps $625

6 1/2" coaxials $450

6x9" $595
