The project : After rebuilding the engine and installing it, the car had been rolling around from straightener to straightener each doing their piece convent to their time. Hence the time it had been put down. The car started once or twice every year just to "see if it still working sake".
Work, school, family all took away the time and every attempt to finish the remaining works to bring it home went through the window like stale tackarie.
Now its finally home where i can restore it to its former state and continue with some upgrades with parts that i have been collecting throughout the years that it was down.

The build: This project was not intentional neither planned to happen. But when the opportunity came i only had days to grab it by its balls and yank away. I had to join forces with a S15 guy to secure the T30 engine. Doing tons of research and consulting with some knowledgeable ppl only days before the purchase i couldn't let the opportunity slip away. When the engine was split, we made quick work of mating the P11VE head to the T30VET block without any issues.

BUILD: Some small parts currently installed on the SR20VE
These are the most basic mods which i saw great gains from in NA form.

The intake mated with a K&N Filter (Battery was relocated for this to work using Zero Gauge Wire)
More fuel- FPR
JASMA Extractors connected to a full 2&1/4" IMPUL exhaust.
Cooling most important!!!

Plans for The Build:
I'm currently accumulating the parts listed which are just the basics to get the engine up and running. My plans for this build is reliability so i be staying as close to stock as possible at least for now. I will be running and tuning on stock wastgate pressure and mating the engine to the 6 speed tiptronic cvt trans. All of the install will be DIY except for the exhaust works.

Parts list:
*AEM FIC
*AEM Wideband
*In Tank fuel pump - Deatschwerks 255LPH
*Adjustable FPR
*440cc side feed injectors S15 (Brown) - should be drop in and plug in to the stock rail & harness.
*OEM Nissan SR20 recirculating valve
*R35 GTR LHS OEM intercooler
*T30 X-Trail - T28 BB
*Full 2.5" exhaust.
*Slim Radiator Fans

Issues so far encountered: (Theory)
*May have to run slim fans for clearance.
*IC plumbing is very tight as i will be side mounting the IC. (Not front mount)
*Power Steering pump seeing as the oil filter is side mounted, not sure if the VE pump will fit or will have to use the VET pump and may have to change one end of the high pressure line.

Please feel free to offer any advise or ask any questions as my search for information was not easy, and at most times misleading.

The Project:
Haven't got chance due to bad weather. Have alot of works planned for this, mainly a lot of servicing to newly installed parts that had been sitting for that time. Doing some external works to the car rite now - Drive train and some minor cosmetic works but sorry to say i will not be posting any of these for privacy reasons.

The Project:
Conducting some works on the interior these days, everything had to be removed due to the time the car was sitting. Was the only way to save it. I would advise anyone, if you know your car is going to sit for a period of time, remove all electronics and engine accessories to store away, just leave whatever necessary for the car to move especially if you're doing body work.

In this state it also gives me a chance to replace the vehicle wiring from the 10's of years since production. From lighting to switches and a new fuse and relay box for the vehicle itself. No A/C so all the vehicle functions will be at the steering column. Separate switches and relays will be installed for the engine functions.

Re: Double Trouble: 1 Project - 1 Build ***Version 2.0***

Postby coltspeed » February 18th, 2017, 11:36 pm

So back again. Here's some stuff I've been working on since then:

The Build:
Haven't got much done but there is alot planned to get it moving again soon before i scrap it all down for cleanup and to install new parts. Problems rite now is that the clutch pedal is not pivoting enough to engage and the engine stutters when revd at about 2.5K - 3K. I start it every time i get chance which is not often so I'm hoping it's just dead gas, also changed 1 coilpack which wasn't working and found the plugs to be in a bad state.

The Project:
Had to do some radiator repairs so it was an opportunity to do a mock up placement of the turbo to check the IC piping run and clearance for the stock fans.
 No clearance for the stock. Will have to go slim.

Also a mock up placement of the stock intercooler, the overflow bottle will have to be removed and replaced, the fuse box is slightly in the way of the intake piping but the battery tray can be altered for it. I Managed to get some parts from the list i made but will have to add slim fans to that.
I will be wiring this myself and will post as much detail as possible when time draws nearer for the install.
Will be using a stock recirculating valve as I'm trying to stay as factory as possible and mostly NISSAN parts. Hopefully i will be able to tune and run at stock wastgate pressure so this rc valve should do if all goes well.
Much thanks to R-Tune. S15-480cc direct drop in - plug & go play into the original VE rail.

Progress is slow but sure. Will be putting more focus into the Project as the red top is due for attention also works around the car and a slight pause on the Build as most things are straight forward for now and mostly the remainder parts just to get for when the time comes to install.

Small update.
Dropped in a set of these KYB Super Special while doing an overhaul of the suspension for the VE engine.
Also swapped TEIN coils to them.
Brakes upgrade will be next - thinking about a set of braided lines all round instead of swapping for a set of R33 calipers up front.
Trying to keep a sleeper look.

So im eating my own words now, also an official member of the "Unemployment Count Thread"
Having to redirect funds after Gov.tt kicked in the employment, these builds were put on hold, until funds can have a steady flow again. Plans for the VVL engine remains the same but the red top may take a different course, time will tell.
Skratching and uneasy had to find something to pass the time with limited funds.

I'll call it Trouble ***Version 1.0***

So it's a complete MA10E-T conversion out of a Figaro which is a later production model than the original March-R*Turbo* engine (some differences between the two), engine is mated to the original 3 speed LSD transmission and runs on 7.5 PSI stock.

Installed...
Full 2" Exhaust, Walbro external fuel pump and intake piping with filter.

Next step is to add power steering, A/C and do a breaks upgrade on all fours, the original brakes works ok but i experienced some really bad brake fading once i pushed the car.

Been busy past year, alot of work was done on the K10, as for the SR's one might have to go to be replaced by something much better from another camp. Cant keep them all

Brakes & suspension upgrade on all 4ours and P-steering in the mix too. Will post the entire process.

So firstly brakes at the front was straight forward, Complete Z10 cube setup - shocks, spindle & rotor/ caliper bolted straight in, Springs was cut and heated to seat back flat on the saucer as the front was too high. Changed the ball joints on the K10 cradles to the Z10 as the K10 bore was smaller - without this the front had a bad bumpsteer & very unstable around corners. Shocks were the same boltup as the K10 at the wheel welds. No problems with the axel spline, went straight through the spindle. Original brakes lines worked back also. I think the Z10 calipers and rotors are the same as B14 look very similar and noticeably bigger than the original K10.

Now secondly, the rear brakes and suspension. Sourced some K11 rear hubs complete w/bearing as in the pics, its noticeably bigger than the K10. The K11 bearing fits the banjo just as the original K10 just needed to knock out the ABS ring at the back of it. The bolting of the K11 hub was just a little offset to the original spacing so i sent the pair along with a K10 hub for a template to re-drill at the machine shop for the spacing to match. Hand brakes cable worked back in the same location on the K11 hubs.
Replaced the stock spring on the rear shocks with a coilover spring from a busted Apexi pair. Raised the saucer to close in the minor spacing and adjust height. Car feels a bit stiff at the back but it handles a lot of weight really well without the back sagging.

Finally for the brakes upgrade, B12 booster & Almera master cylinder. No modifications here, straight bolt up just shift the lines slightly to meet the connections on the cylinder.

Next up - power steering & ac conversion.
