can i import a used vehicle which is more than 5 years

Hi tuners, i want to know if anybody have experience importing a vehicle more than 5 years. What is the procedure, is it hard to do. A'm looking at a bimmer m3.

yes you can import it unfortunately you will have to 1 either disassemble in parts or 2 cut the vehicle in half as it will have to enter the country as car parts. if you try to import as a whole car you will have to apply for an import license which you will not get due to the age of the vehicle and failure to produce this will result in seizure of goods and possibly a fine.

the only way you could bring something more than 5 years is if you're a returning resident..other than that,hard luck bai op bai...

How is it that foreign auto parts places can still bring in whole shells?

the law is RHD, one to six years old, payments are duty, MVT, VAT, Licensing

Well it's normally brought in with the rest of parts in the containers.
the cars are normally loaded at the back of the container and the rest of the parts in front and in some cases on top of the car (a shelf like apparatus is constructed in the container).

Customs officer will be there to open the container (most times) at the dealers yard.
They normally leave before the entire thing is empty.

And the car is registered as parts as its most times placed in there without wheels etc.

All of the above are based on what I have seen on many occasions.


But yes, dealers can get away with this.
You cannot bring in an old car as a RORO.

An old shell can be brought in as parts once the 4 rims r removed , engine and tranny, steering column and diff...it will be classed as parts
