Shakes I gave you lights on Saturday, saw the van.

Right now I trust the Dmax, np300 and sportero over that new Hilux 2.8 if going new. If going used, a Hilux 3.0 in mint condition is a good buy. If sold on the dmax, hold off for now cause SS is going to get the 2020 all new version which is going to be a game changer for the entire segment.

The reality is, if you don’t go all the way out in maintaining a modern pickup, then prepare for issues. Each of the 5 authorized dealers that sell pickups in this country have units that giving endless trouble. Lots of warranty intervention. Where engine parts are concerned, the YD25DDTi seems to be the popular choice.

Randolph, the performance you get from a SSS is unmatched by any other vehicle for that price. It’s unique and with that 6MT transmission, you would never have to worry about the issues that plague automatics. I’m willing to bet, if you slap a tune on it, stuff like BRZs etc won’t stand a chance. The 5 year warranty is also a huge plus. Premium fuel only and make sure that you follow your maintenance schedule religiously since it’s a DI engine and would need additional care as it racks up miles.

A lot of people don't realise how good the Isuzu pick ups are. Real work horse plus less problems overall.

Any affordable reliable 7 seater SUV’s in the market?

From my research there’s the Nissan x-trail 4x4 but a bit out of my budget.

Next I found is the Toyota Rush ($210k new)

But are they’re really any other options available?

Let me know and thank you in advance!

The New Suzuki XL7 is coming in a soon, couple months max. It's a direct competitor to the Rush, exact engine specs, 2cm lower but has way more room than the Rush and a more convenient 2nd row shoulder flip system to get into the 3rd row rather than the Rush's tumble and slide mechanism which is kinda cumbersome. Also has manual ac controls for the 2nd and 3rd rows, the Rush just has a blower. Definitely worth checking out, prices not available as yet, but it should be in line with the Rush since it would be a direct competitor.

The problem with Suzuki, and this is my personal experiences owning a mere 2014 Swift is:

1) Lifestyle Motors do not keep a wide stock of spare parts. So I have had a case when I needed to replace a fairly standard part (can't remember exactly what ATM) and it took LSM 8+ weeks to get in.

2) Parts are expensive, comparable to of not more than the legendary Toyota parts.

3) Genukne Parts are not easily available and aftermarket parts are equally difficult to source.

4) Service fees at the firm are really high.

5) Basic Body parts are not stocked, eg wing mirrors. Takes about 8-10 weeks to get that. So if you are in an accident and in need of major body parts, you'll likely be out of a car for 12+ weeks at best.

On the plus side, I did find the reliability to be good and with the routine expensive maintenance the car ought to last.

^^ Sister in law had a problem with the Grand Vitara. Lifestyle refused to even check it because she stopped servicing it by them. 3 Mechanics later was a transmission problem.

I have had 3 suzuki jeeps (Vitara, Sidekick and Jimny).... They all have given good service. Great fun vehicles to drive and play. Not too sure about the new stock.... the new Jimny seems to be a hot stepper though.

I had a Cruze purchased from them back in 2013. I needed the following parts across 5 yrs:

Sunroof wind deflector x 2 (1st one wait time was a couple months)
Timing belt, pulley and tensioner
Radiator inlet and outlet hose
Coolant reservoir bottle
Oil pan
Sun visor clip
Center console armrest
Steering wheel (a couple months)
Front brake pads
Left side boot rubber
ID light bulb
Fog light bulb
Park light bulb
Remote control key fob (owner supplied)
Front windshield
Wiper blades (owner supplied)
4 tyres (owner supplied)
12V battery
Transmission (2.5 mths wait time with complimentary Grand Vitara)
Transmission fluid
Brake fluid
Power steering fluid
Coolant
Spark plugs
Engine air filter
Cabin air filter
Motor oil
Oil filter
Oil filter gasket
Valve cover gasket (owner supplied, not in stock)

Everything with the exception for which I supplied a note for, was installed instantly. Some under warranty and some I paid for. For a relatively rare car at the time, I would say LSM did a good job with stocking spares for that vehicle.

Think about it, a sun visor clip, sunroof wind deflector and center arm rest (amongst others) replaced instantly? Try that with the other dealers and you would be surely disappointed.

TTTL took almost a year to swap our RAV4 steering wheel under warranty.

Recall I said right in this very thread that there is a top vehicle repairer in pos where the owner himself told me that he prefers to deal with LSM over the rest and detests Diamond Motors etc.

I agree with Suzuki parts though because they exited the NA market more than a decade ago so supplies would be thinner this side of the hemisphere but you can still source stuff online for it and if LSM could keep good inventory for Chevy, I’m sure their main brand which is Suzuki is adequately stocked.

agent007 wrote:The Equinox actually starts at $290k but you will not get the leather seats and power tailgate at that cost. Weirdly enough, everything else is the same including that giant size panoramic sunroof. Something has to be good about it to be the 3rd best selling compact crossover in the entire North America (US and Canada) sales combined. Or it could be fleet sales too lol

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross GLS 2wd 1.5T now comes with 7 airbags. In fully loaded trim, the cash price is $309k but if you opt to finance through ANSA Merchant Bank, the price would increase to $319k and you will get free insurance and service. Now that is value!
Equinox is awd or no?

Nope, the LT 1.5T is 2WD. The LTZ 2.0T is AWD but LSM does not import those, at least not to my knowledge.

T&T OFFICIAL New Vehicle Prices & Discussion Thread

Postby agent007 » March 9th, 2020, 9:17 am

Spann, it has been 8 days now that I am waiting on a response to a WhatsApp msg that I sent but nothing yet. So I turned to my trusted sales rep and he told me thus far Chevrolet LATAM is not affected. So I can’t say for sure if the closure of the Thailand and South Korean plants will affect RHD production.

What I know as a fact is with the Thai Colorado coming to an end, it could mean no replacement model. Also, when their cars PLC comes to an end, there is also no planned replacement (Sonic and Cruze). So it’s my feeling, sooner or later the brand will either be dead or scaled down significantly OR unless GM Mexico's Ramos Arizpe plant picks up RHD production for LATAM and Caribbean markets.

So if anyone would like a potential collectors item, here is a unique $366k Chevy pickup for you:

I just sell my Colorado for precisely the same reason. I just couldn't adjust to the red outside and inside. I guess I not Raj enough.

Agent 007 , Any reviews on the A5 Sportback ? I find it sexy.

On the contrary, they may go up. Manufacturing plants may cut back production due to availability of workers. Parts and components that are sourced from Asian and European countries may not be produced in large quantities for the same reasons.

Shipping frequencies may also be reduced for pandemic reasons and to save on shipping costs for less cargo. In other words, shipping may only be planned when the quantity of units equates to a "full" cargo which justifies the shipping cost.

To offset the low supply, our dealers may increase costs of the few units they have in stock so the profit margin per sale is higher and therefore reduce their bottom line impact.

Why would prices drop?

Sun or rain, new cars selling, and selling hot.

The people and the people alone have the power to dictate the pace....but this is how they want it.

Trinidadians are unaffected and unconcerned about global issues.

If they reduce prices to encourage demand but dont have the supply to back that up then that would not increase their bottom line.

Instead, what we will continue to see is the price will either not be effected or it will go up. They can throw in these daily fake promotions to encourage you to buy but that's pretty much it.
